Laugh and romance in one great story

A couple of chapters into the story and I was sold! I couldn’t stop listening to Wyeth Watts and Verla Bond bringing to life Sophie and Nick. This is my first Danika Bloom book and I really enjoyed it. The story was really good. Lots of laughs and romance too. Love the plot the whole inheritance thing and the family, blood and not blood related. I love Nick siblings too. I really enjoyed listening to their romance and how they fell in love. Love Sophie, she is amazing and determined. Nick was so far in love with her, I love how he did everything thinking of her. Their happily ever after? perfect. Great story.

So Sexy

First In: Cheeky with the Fire Chief is a sweet bickering romance. Sophie and Nick are cute when bickering, I liked listening to it. But when they got along it was pretty delicious. I immediately liked both Sophie and Nick. I ate up this audiobook from the beginning. The first date they had was hilarious and sexy. Them living together was just sad. The misunderstanding was frustrating, also Sophie's family is in need of a slap. The family secret being revealed was an OMG moment. Wyeth Watts & Verla Bond did a perfect job bringing the characters to life and this whole world.

Sophie and Nick

The narrators did a good job. I enjoyed this Sophie is past up for fire chief and Nick was given the position. At first they meet at an accident as Nick was on his way for an interview and Sophie's crew answers. She doesn't know who he is at first. I enjoyed listening to this story not only do you get their relationship you also get what Sophie is going through with her relationship with her family after the Patriarch past, secrets revealed. Nick and his family life. Another firefighter and what he is going through. Cleaning the firehouse and the politics with the choices made with the volunteers. Can't wait to listen to more from this series.

Adorable story!

Adorable little story! I really enjoyed these two! Sophie really had it all going for her then everything fell apart. Her story is heartfelt and had me feeling for her. Nick fell into a lucky break but then it turned out to be not what he wanted. This is filled with amazing characters and made me smile fore than once. Everything comes together in the end which is wonderfully done.

Verla Bond and Wyeth Watt are the narrators. They both do an amazing job and are pleasant to listen to

Thanks to two wonderful narrators, I ate this romance up! The story was good, and while there are parts that I think could’ve been better developed, the characters were appealing and the performances really brought them to life for me. Wyeth Watts and Verla Bond are new to me narrators, so this was a fun Introduction to two performers that I look forward to hearing more from in the future. Watts was a great Nick; hitting the humor and affability, but also able to make even the MMC’s less admirable qualities tolerable (the character can be a bit sexist at times). Bond was the ideal narrator match for Sophie. The FMC (and her dog!) were the standouts of the story for me and Bond’s performance gave all the heart and pathos that a listener could hope for!

This was also my first Danika Bloom book and it was pretty good. I enjoyed the characters and the setting, but some key plot elements felt a bit hand-waved away. A lot of the FMC’s arc stems from dealing with her family drama, but she never really gets to confront it in a satisfying way. I couldn’t help but want a more personal confrontation between her and her family me,beta (one in particular, but no spoilers!) that wasn’t just handled by lawyers. It was a little narratively unsatisfying. Still the MCs’ romantic connection was good. I liked that my expectations were somewhat subverted, and how despite getting off on the wrong foot this wasn’t about her sabotaging him because she didn’t get the job. Sophie in particular showed real maturity by stopping to think about how her going at Nick would negatively impact the community. It spoke greatly to her character. And I appreciated how they were able make things happen for the better at the firehouse rather than being hindered by the stereotypical “I’m going to make your life hell because I didn’t get what I wanted” approach. If only the miscommunication trope was as well handled in their romantic relationship! There were times I wanted to knock their heads together for not communicating with each other as lovers as well as they did as colleagues.

Overall, I really enjoyed the listening experience. I feel like if I had read this book, I would have been more frustrated with it, but the performers were just so endearing that they were able to smooth over some of the story’s rougher edges.
