This Story Is Sexy

Publisher's Summary

He sets women ablaze, but the only one he needs may be fireproof.

Humiliated by her cheating ex, control freak Mel Thompson has resolved to avoid sex and romance. But her plans skid off the rails on her birthday, when she overindulges in champagne and tries to seduce her best friend, Adam Caras, exposing her long-repressed attraction to him. She's determined to remain just friends, but her erotic fantasies have other ideas...

Firefighter Adam Caras has seduced more women than he'd ever admit to, earning the nickname the Arsonist, thanks to his explosive sensuality. Unfortunately, he realized he's in love with his best friend Mel five minutes after she hooked up with her sleazebag ex. For two years, he's kept his true feelings a secret. His libido, on the other hand ... not so easy to rein in. Now that she's free, he has a plan of his own. He'll win her heart the only way he knows how - in bed - by employing every weapon in his lady-killer arsenal.

As best friends become lovers, they must risk everything for a chance at happiness. If they can overcome their past mistakes before it tears them apart...

Fired Up is an award-winning, bestselling friends-to-lovers romance from the author of the acclaimed Hot Scots series of contemporary romances.

Nope

I really tired but the narration wasn't working for me. I might have gotten through it but then Mel was a very weak character.

Friends to Lovers

Mel and Adam have been best friends since early childhood, their parents were friends as well. Now Mel owns a successful web design company and has become a bit of a control freak. Adam is a firefighter who has a reputation with the ladies and a nickname of The Arsonist.

Mell has been in a relationship for the last two years, but when the story starts she has broken off with him because he cheated on her, several times and filmed his liaisons on Mel's phone for her to find! She goes to a club with her best girlfriend Kaya and Adam to celebrate her birthday, but Adam is late and whilst waiting for him to arrive she dances with a masked man who has an incredible effect on her. She drinks too much and whilst under the influence asks Adam to sleep with her.

Adam has been in love with Mel for years and tonight had planned to make her aware, but she's drunk and so he puts her to bed and sleeps on the couch! I tell you this so you get an idea of what type of man Adam is, he is loving, he is loyal and he wants more than a quickie with Mel.

I'm not going to tell you the whole story but I will say the chemistry was good, the characters had depth and the way their relationship progressed and changed were not without problems. Overall an enjoyable story which held my attention.

I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

great book

Really enjoyed this book. Cute story line, lovable characters, nice setting. I found the narrator a little off for me. Every bit of the story was read in a very throaty voice. I found it to be more annoying than sensual.
Adam and Mel are best friends, and when the opportunity pops up to explore more, they both fight tooth and nail.

EXCELLENT FRIENDS TO LOVERS

FIRED UP is a stand-alone friends-to-lovers contemporary romance.

Though this may not be a part of the Hot Scots series, there is an immediate overlap: Mel’s birthday celebration is being held at Dance Ardor, the same club where Erica and Lachlan met (and Calli met Aiden…. Thinking he may be a firefighter…. Hmmm have we come full circle?)

Starting from the opening scene, pictures were painted in my mind. The locations and the people became living and breathing parts of my world during my drive while I listened to this wonderful story. It is hot, intense, and sexy. It is heart-filling with family, friends, and love of all types.

Though repetitive at times, even that felt real. I know for myself, I tend to go into circular thinking and worrying until I finally make a decision.

I love romance stories. Anyone who has followed my blog for even a short time knows this, so it should come as no surprise that I would love this story of friends who are able to build that relationship into even more…a lifetime.

Narration: The narrator has a very sexy voice. In fact, even the scenes that were not erotic sounded breathless and ready to explode. This made it a little distracting for driving and inappropriate for some scenes, but better than being monotone.

Note: while I was given this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Steamy Listen

This is my first book by Anna Durand that I have listened to. I really found it to be enjoyable. I loved the unexpected twists the author wrote in the story. Friends to Lovers is a genre I enjoy. The added twist made it that much better. The narrator T.B. did a very good job adding the right emotions. I liked her voices for the various characters. My favorite part of the book was when they realized what was truly important. This was time well spent listening.

An engaging story

I am new to this author and was given the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.
This story centers around Mel and Adam. At first friends, and later lovers.
It’s an engaging story with complex characters . Of course, there is also someone that is not happy with this new relationship.
But , is it right cross that line? Can they have a real relationship?
Will they find their HEA?
I was gifted this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
