Not as good as others

I must admit, I have enjoyed the whole Mercy Thompson series, as well as Alpha and Omega.

When this book came out I bought it but the story seems a little weak and there was a lot more conversation by Mercy and a lot less humor. I was a little disappointed. Having said that I listen to it all the way to the end and will look forward to the next book… I think we have new characters to look forward to.

There are no words to express how much I loved this book!

I have adored every Mercy book, but this one was the best one yet. It was absolutely fantastic. Patricia Briggs is an amazingly talented author. You really can't go wrong with a Patricia Briggs book.
The narrator, Lorelei King is one of the best narrators I have ever listened to. She preformed this book so beautifully. She can do the snarky, sexy, funny, touching, and gut wrenching roles this book calls for incredibly well. Plus she does a sexy male voice that is like chocolate melting on the tip of your tongue! This is an incredible blend of amazing author and narrator that makes the audiobook version so...well there are no words.
Happy listening!

The weakest from the series

Its not bad but also not too good. I never felt that the story really took off. It felt like the whole book was made from the introduction and then the end. No middle , no main story. It's too bad because I really waited for this book.

not my favorite but still good

Normally I can't wait for the next but it felt like this one kept waiting to get started. Still wonderful and an amazing narrator but it didn't grab me like most in the series.

Another Awesome Mercy adventure!!

This was another awesome addition to the Mercy Thompson series! I can never get tired of these stories, they are full of action, suspense, magic, and lots of "pack politics." I love how Adam and Mercy work together as a team, they are the perfect Alpha leaders. We are introduced to new and interesting characters.

As usual, The Gray Lords are up to their games, and Mercy and the pack find themselves in the middle of the Fae conflict, but they will not back down. They have declared to protect their territory and the boy who escaped from the Fae.

If you are a Mercy Thompson Fan, you will definitely want to add this story to your collection.

This story was well worth the credit, and the time spent listening to the story.

Huge dissapointment

I have loved every single book from mercy Thompson Series and I am just wondering what happen with this one. The entire book could be summarized in just a few chapters. Boring, boring and boring. You are expecting after few chapters that story might pick up and get little bit more interesting but never did. I just could not go past few chapters.

Old and stale

I really enjoyed all of the previous books in this series, however this jaws just too much like all the others. I found it boring. I'll get the next book. Hopefully it will be better.

Not As Good As Previous Books

Would you try another book from Patricia Briggs and/or Lorelei King?

Yes

If you’ve listened to books by Patricia Briggs before, how does this one compare?

There was a lot of filler and not much going on. We had a bunch of communication till the end and then it fiizzled out

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

Always good

Did Fire Touched inspire you to do anything?

No

Any additional comments?

Hate to say it, and give it 3 stars, but I didn't enjoy this one as much as the last book. There seemed to be so much filler and not much going on in way of story. It started off with bang and then fizzled into a bunch of back and forth communications, add reminiscing, plenty of ruminating (I usually don't mind Mercy's, as much as some other series characters) to a disappointingly, dull end.
Oh well, I won't give up on Mercy, I'll just take another break

Disappointing

I am honestly disappointed by one of my favorite authors. I hated that I used a credit for this. Mercy is usually one of my favorite heroines. She managed to appear weak and boring in this, the worst of the series. My dad called it a filler book "to introduce new plot ideas and characters." Whatever it was, made it terribly difficult to get through. There were several potential plot twists that fizzled weakly into nothing instead of some of her bigger climaxes. To be fair, this is the first I have listened to (as opposed to reading in paperback format). So maybe readers ridiculous attempt at performance that lead to this extreme disappointment. I will not spend money on the next one, though I might borrow it or buy it second hand until she proves me wrong again. I will try to skip King altogether though. She is definitely no Mercy.

Lorelei King's performance is SPOT-Freaking-ON!

Hey, so good. I knew that this was a 5 star read by the end of page 2. I really love it when a story has sucked you in just that fast, but don't take my word for it. Grab the book. I really don't feel that I need to rehash the story as I'm sure plenty of other people have already done that by today, since the original release of Fire Touched! I will say that Mercy is finally settling into her life as the alpha coyote. But, hey just wait 'til you get to page 77, you'll see. Nope, I'm not gonna quote it, 'cause that would just be too spoilery. Just as an addendum it's really nice to see Joel settle into his new skin and roll in the pack.

Anything that Patricia Briggs writes about is golden... But this is one my favorite books.
I can't imagine a better narrator than Lorelei King to fill Mercy's POV... her voice performance is SPOT-Freaking-ON!

Excellent as always

Would you listen to Fire Touched again? Why?

I will listen to this book again. I always listen to good books twice. I seem to gain more detail from the second listen.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Fire Touched?

Not an action sequence it was the scene when Adam and Mercy's pack are disavowed by the leader of all the Werewolf packs - by the man who raised Mercy. I was stunned as were Mercy and Adam.

Which character – as performed by Lorelei King – was your favourite?

I love the way Lorelei portrays Adam. Patricia has written a rounded character and Lorelei's performance helps in the development.
Lorelei Kings shows a wide selection of very stable voices an excellent narrator.

Any additional comments?

The stage is set for more stories. I love the fact that Adam and Mercy have a loving and stable marriage which strengthens the plot lines. In this story they offer protection to a child who had been abducted by the fae with consequences.
I will keep my eyes open for the next book in the series.

First audiobook for this series

First audiobook for Mercy Thompson for me. I will admit that I wasn’t a total fan of the narrator but after listening to it for a couple of hours the narrator didn’t bother me too much.
This book did keep me interested but was slow in places but still found very enjoyable

Werewolves, magic and mayhem

Recording seemed a bit clipped in places. Story great as usual. First time I have listened to this reader, as she is American she had trouble with the UK accent for Ben, but otherwise no complaints. As a fan of the series, all the ingredients are just right, but I must get the recipe for those brownies and a source for the orange oil!

Wonderful!

Time passed too fast 😂! I really like Mercy Thompson Books so when i decided to listen to the last book out (i think) it was rather daunting. I feared they the voices would wayy more différent than in my head (Adam's voice was definitely not what i hope but it's alright since it comes from a woman voice) but it was amazing! I really enjoyed it almost more than reading the books itself (almost, because really. Reading books it's a whole new world opening)

Great series and narrator

Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series is a very good read and even better when narrated by Lorelei King . BUT yet again Audible do not have the complete series on their UK site . This is unbelievably frustrating. I have e mailed them in the past but no joy . For that reason only I would hesitate to recommend this series . You'll end up frustrated too !

A great story

The stories of Mercedes and the werewolves have never failed to delight me. Fire Touched is good on its own merit, but will make more sense of you have read the previous books in the series. The reading worked well for me, but I only really notice if something doesn't seem right, and I didn't notice anything about the performance here at all.

fantastic book. absolute must read

i love Mercy stories. they are realistic paranormal books that deal in real life issues but then it is twisted by the paranormal. this book is no exception. it twists and turns as you go through the emotional turmoil following the characters of the book. but start from book 1. even though they are mostly standalones. the characters grow and expand from book to book
