Publisher's summary

Lanie Heron isn't looking for love—no surprise, considering her last serious relationship nearly got her killed. So when Lanie propositions Hop Kincaid, all she wants is one wild night with the hot-as-hell biker who patrols with the Chaos Motorcycle Club . . .

For Hop, Lanie has always been untouchable. She's too polished and too classy for his taste. But when she gives Hop the once-over with her bedroom eyes and offers him a night in paradise, he can't say no. And he doesn't regret it when he finds that Lanie is the best thing that's ever happened to him—in or out of bed. Now the trick will be to convince her of that.

Critic reviews

"Ashley delivers a deeply emotional second installment of the Chaos contemporary romance series (after Own the Wind)... Punctuated by blistering-hot sex scenes and fascinating glimpses into the tough world of motorcycle clubs, this romance also delivers true heart and emotion, and a story that will stay with the reader long after the final page is turned."—Publishers Weekly, Starred Review

ROMANCE CENTERED & OH SO SWEET!

It's true that this book is somewhat of a departure from KA's style of combining action sequenced drama intertwined with her romances. This book is more centered on the relationship and love development between a very unlikely couple….Hopper "Hop" Kincaid, hot, tatted-up, Chaos MC biker and classy, beautiful lady, Lanie Heron.

We were introduced to both in Tack & Tyra's book (Motorcycle Man). Lanie is Tyra's best friend who had almost gotten killed because she stuck by her man (finance, Elliot Bellova) even after finding out about all of the trouble he was in due to his involvement with the Russian mob. Elliot was killed and Lanie became collateral damage as she experienced her own traumatic life events that the Chaos MC saved her from. For this, Lanie is a friend of the club and hangs out with Tyra and the gang at the compound. Lanie's beauty, cuteness (her flair for silly drama), and her "bedroom eyes" had gotten her noticed and admired by Hopper for years, but she was "class" and definitely not his usual type. Yet, it all changes when Lanie propositions Hopper for a " no complication, one night stand." (this proposition is in the prologue of the book, but not on the audiobook, unfortunately).

There are a lot of things I loved about Hop and Lanie's love affair. First of all, I love a hot, affectionate relentless alpha-male, and Hop is definitely that! Although it was Lanie who first initiated the rendezvous, it's Hop who insists on the continuation of the romance. And, this book is really a beautiful tribute of love between Hope and Lanie. Lanie has issues and Hop is patient and promises to help her win the battle with "the monster (the problems that tear her up from the inside out)." Hop is a great combination of classic biker tough and sweet, as honey, romantic. I thought it was so endearing to see how Hop cherished Lanie and told her how he'd never had "class" before. He almost displays a tender reverence or admiration for Lanie and formulates his own ideas on how Lanie needs to be treated, as a "lady"---_ Those parts are just cute and sweet. Lanie is definitely the damsel in distress here (but more due to psychologically-haunting issues), and she relents to Hop's advances and care of her. She also spoils Hop with her cooking, her deep love for him and his children.

For most of the book, their romance was blissful, but OMG, when these lovers fight while trying to merge both of their pasts, added to that, when both get mad at the same time---WATCH OUT! The drama that ensued between the lovers was really the only conflict that needed to be resolved along with telling others about their secret affair. If you are a helpless romantic and appreciate a great love story that centers on the individuals in the relationship, then you will love "Fire Inside."

Narrator: Kate Russell did a great job, as she always has with KA's audiobooks. Great listen!

KA does it again!

I mean really... there is not point in ranting and raving on how awesome a writer KA is... so... just get the book and enjoy at least 11hrs of great story, nice smexy time and bad ass bikers, that are the Chaos MC!

Narration was good... Great buy/credit/sale... I would credit...because this is pricey but worth it!

On FIRE for all things Kristen Ashley!!

Kristen Ashley is the bomb! Fire Inside was extra spicy with just enough sweet to make you swoon. Hop Kincaid is seriously some kind of man--KA really knows how to write a truly delicious man. I've loved every single book of hers so far. Her writing style (and the narration style as a result of the writing) is unique and may not be for everyone, but, it works for me and adds humor, 'swag', and a little edge to the characters. The only minor negative was Lanie's hang-ups about 'outing' hers and Hop's relationship. It was a little bit of a stretch, but, every other aspect of the story was superb! Forever a fan of KA, I highly recommend this book/series to the listener that enjoys edgy grown-up romance that will always leave you wanting more.

I love Chaos

This is my favorite book in the series. It's a great story with well developed characters. I'm not so fond of the narrator but she did OK with this book.

Love the Book but not the Narrator

I am a huge fan of KA. I went into this book with high expectations as the sneak peak I'd listed to at the end of "Own the wind" left me excited for Hop and Lanie's story.I read this book before I purchased the audible version and I can say this is one book where the audio version did not live up to my expectations. I think if Angela Starling had narrated this book it would have worked much better. Don't get me wrong Kate Russell worked really well in the Dream Man series but this pairing didn't work at all for me.

With that said I didn't listen to the full audio book because I couldn't get past the narrator but having read the book previously I can say this book does not stand out like "Own the Wind" (which I absolutely loved) but in many ways it still worked. I have read reviews that say there wasn't as much excitement in this book but I've come to expect that by listening to the Dream Series. I don't think each book has to be full of drama and/or excitement to be right for the characters. This book flowed well for me and while I wanted to slap Lanie and Hop a time or two It worked for me.

Narrator ruins characters

A little harsh I know. But had I not listen to other Kristen Ashley books and absolutely was fascinated by the Colorado Men series, I would never listened to another Ashley book. The characters are suppose to be these amazing he-men and the narrator has them talking in these wimpy voices. The female characters are even worse. I was torn from returning the book and keep listening to a great story. I finished listening and I am glad I did. The story is great though so maybe reading would be better than listening. Book is perfect for the times you just need an escape from reality. I have listened to most of the Kristen Ashley books and highly recommend them. Just stay away from this narrator, it is not a good fit.

Once I figured out the order realized really enjoyed the series!!

Okay, so for me you have to start with “Motorcycle Man,” from her “Dream Man Series,” or you will spend these books wondering what the heck they’re referencing every time they talk about some of the main, and consistent characters….So I read this book
And realized I had to back track a little. If you don’t mind listening to little explanations of what happened then you won’t have to go back, but if you’re like me and want the fool details then you’ll want to go back, but don’t worry, it’s won’t like you’ll be lost reading this book but it has me wondering what I’d missed. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤔 But I’m nosy like that, that being said yes Im very glad I did!

Moving in to this story, this is bad boy Shai, and Ms. lady Tabbitha’s, hopeful love story! Tabby not only happens to be a hot young lady at an M.C. Club, but she’s there because her daddy is president of said Club! Drama number one, and so it begins. I don’t want to say too much because I hate spoiling the story. Just know the storyline was interesting enough to keep me reading, and although these two have a lot of chemistry and sexual tension, it wasn’t as much sex in this one as I like. Still, for me to say it was really sexy, fun, and kept me reading to the point where I didn’t want to put it down…It’s definitely worth the read. 👍🏾👏🏾😁Now, it is a M.C. Book and these two are a young couple so I did feel that the language read that way, if that makes sense. They didn’t sound like two five year olds, but they’re not going to speak like they work for N.A.S.A. or a High School teacher either…..

The narration is okay, Kate Russell, definitely has problems transitioning from male to female, adult
to child. I still commend her for trying to take on so many voices. I’ve even heard a lot worse so I struggle with my review on narration. The story is so good my focus is more on that, but unfortunately I have noticed her failing on smooth transitions to other voices. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Her voices are pretty similar too….
