Story
Vera Wong is a lonely little lady of a certain age who lives above her forgotten tea shop in the middle of San Francisco’s Chinatown. She likes nothing more than sipping on a good cup of Wulong and doing some healthy detective work on the Internet about what her Gen-Z son is up to. Then one morning, Vera trudges downstairs to find a curious thing—a dead man in the middle of her shop. In his outstretched hand, a flash drive. After calling the cops like any good citizen, she swipes the flash drive. Why? Because Vera is sure she would do a better job than the police possibly could.

Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Camas Davis was at an unhappy crossroads. A longtime magazine writer and editor in the food world, she'd returned to her home state of Oregon with her boyfriend from New York City to take an appealing job at a Portland lifestyle magazine. But neither job nor boyfriend delivered on her dreams, and in the span of a year, Davis was unemployed and on her own. Disillusioned by the years she’d spent mediating the lives of others for a living, she had no idea what to do next. She did know one thing: She no longer wanted to write about the real thing; she wanted to be the real thing.

Publisher's summary
From Edgar-Award nominee Elle Cosimano comes Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead - the hilarious and heart-pounding follow-up to Finlay Donovan is Killing It.
"A funny and smart, twisty and surprising series." (Megan Miranda)
Finlay Donovan is - once again - struggling to finish her next novel and keep her head above water as a single mother of two. On the bright side, she has her live-in nanny and confidant Vero to rely on, and the only dead body she's dealt with lately is that of her daughter's pet goldfish.
On the not-so-bright side, someone out there wants her ex-husband, Steven, out of the picture. Permanently. Whatever else Steven may be, he's a good father, but saving him will send her down a rabbit hole of soccer moms disguised as hit-women, and a little bit more involvement with the Russian mob than she'd like.
Meanwhile, Vero's keeping secrets, and Detective Nick Anthony seems determined to get back into her life. He may be a hot cop, but Finlay's first priority is preventing her family from sleeping with the fishes...and if that means bending a few laws then so be it.
With her next book's deadline looming and an ex-husband to keep alive, Finlay is quickly coming to the end of her rope. She can only hope there isn't a noose at the end of it....

Story
Reeve LeClaire is a college student, dammit, not Daryl Wayne Flint's victim. Not anymore-not when Reeve is finally recovering a life of her own after four years of captivity. Flint is safely locked up in Olshaker Psychiatric Hospital, where he belongs. He is walking the grounds of the forensic unit, performing his strange but apparently harmless rituals. It seems that he is still suffering the effects of the head injury he suffered in the car crash that freed Reeve seven years ago. Post-concussive syndrome, they call it.

Very impressed!
I’m hooked!
I loved Fin and Vero. They’re like Batmom and Robin 😂
I get so much of the Stephanie Plum vibes, yet the story is completely different and I love it.
All the side characters are fantastic and if ever the author decides to give them their own book I’m
completely sold.
The love interests are very different from one another and I can’t help liking both.
Obviously as of now Nick is the best choice, but Julian bring that relaxed feelings Fin needs at times.
With Nick she knows things will get very serious and that’s because once they explore that connection the chemistry is going to be out of this world 🔥
Georgia, the parents, and Steven are also enjoyable. I can’t hate Steven at all, he’s just a man who made mistakes, but I’m glad Fin closed that chapter. I’m liking their friendship!
The kids are also hilarious, I can’t wait to see them in action in the upcoming books. I’m pretty sure this story is only getting started.
I can say I’m a fan now! Please give more laugh out loud moments, mystery and action! Great work and Angela was the best choice for this story, she’s wonderful!

Love, love, love
I read the first book and loved that one and had been waiting for the second book; it did not disappoint. I love the characters, and I love the scenes. I was able to visualize everything. There are plenty of funny parts & serious parts, but mainly a light-hearted mystery with a tiny bit of romance, but not an overwhelming amount to take away from the story!
Great book; I look forward to book 3.
I loved the narrator; she did a great job with the different characters.

Better Lucky Than Good Or Dead
This may be Finlay's motto. I discovered this series recently and have been pleasantly surprised how much I enjoy it. Finlay truly is a "hot mess," and Vero may be even messier, but together, they make quite a team. This book made me cringe, laugh, roll my eyes, and even managed a total twist I never saw coming. I am Team Nick, and I do hope Finlay agrees and soon, before it is too late. I also hope the next book is coming soon!

Jokes on me I paid for this book
I sadly can’t count the number of things that made me regret my purchase, but for those thinking of buying let me give you a heads up..
Plot holes, bad attempts at humour, ya romance, poor writing, weak ending.

Easy Listening For Angela Dawe Fans
I passed up book 1 sale for some not remembered reason! I caught this book 2 almost before the sale closed. As an owner of 156 read books by Ms Dawe, l know what she can deliver. This is a simple who dunnit mystery, which ms Dawe brings to vivid life. So if you like and want an adventure by a clever writer mom, with secondary characters that endear you to the series, don’t miss this one. I will have to go back and buy book 1 and await book 3. Don’t miss Marcia Clark’s Samantha Brinkman series or Tiffany Snow series Kathleen Turner, both are outstanding.

A fun romp
Completely ridiculous but a great diversion!
Definitely need to suspend disbelief but lovable characters.

No spoilers
I've got yo say this was another great story with equally great narration. if you want a fantastic mystery with very well written characters that you'll love then don't hesitate . you also get romance suspense a ton of laughs to. the twist and turns throughout the story was great and will literally not let you stop listening until the very end . I seriously can't wait for more by both Cosimano and Dawe hopefully there will be a whole lot more of this series.
