A Very Touching Story

This short but well-written novel touches the heartstrings of our hearts. The agony of having to deal with a deteriorating mind, becomes the agony of many, not only the person afflicted by the symptoms. The parallels dramas that the protagonist, Brian Lethando has to face in a hopeful and dreaded trip looking for his natural mother who abandoned him when he was only 2 years old, becomes his chance of spending precious time with his adoptive mother who is dealing with the first signs of Alzheimer. Facing a new rejection by a mother who never wanted him, Brian's love for his true mother shines in what might be their last adventure.

A heartwarming short story

I really enjoyed this short story. In only 45 minutes there were many different emotions and up and downs. I really enjoyed a lot about this book!

that's life but it's okay

such a short story so much emotions and yet I couldn't see holes in the story when I'm reading a short story I'm used to holes in the story I was waiting for something to go wrong with the story something to be missing but I couldn't find it I really like the story life is difficult but you can handle it this is what the story told me that's life but it's okay the narrator was good his voice was clear and enjoyable

So much heartbreak

This short story is heavily emotional. Little is as devastating or cruel as Alzheimer's. And as emotional as his reunion with his mother is, it's the Alzheimer's that sticks with me. Especially considering the interaction between the themes of this disease and of the significance of being a parent. The tension leading up to meeting the birth mother was palpable and how it played out is not like any parent child reunion I've ever read.

This was not an easy listen, but it was a rewarding one.

Poignant

There's something about this story that is really compelling, I think it's the care and devotion that is shown between the two main characters.

It's kinda short but there's nothing missing, I was just enjoying it and I wanted more.

A fabulous short story.

The narration was great, good character voices and the emotions of the book were conveyed well.

Siggned up to listen to this book on a whim because it was short and free, I don't think I have ever had such a good experience from such a short story before. The story itself was a simple affair having a handful of scenes within it. Likewise there are only 4-5 main characters depending on how you look at it. Somehow though in a half hour Christian Galacar made me care about and genuinely feel bad for the plight of the protagonist. Its both heartfelt and beautiful in a way that I honestly wasn't expecting.

A sad but wonderful story

The author was able to pack a whole lifetime of love and loss in a 45 minute story. That is, in my opinion, a masterful skill. Watching the short journey across the country with the woman who raised him, and watching as her mind breaks down stirred up a lot of emotion in me. I don't want to give anything away, but the story takes an unexpected turn and ends on a high note! I would definitely say this is worth 45 mins of your day!

A Bittersweet and Somber Reality

Finding Nebraska was a poetic yet sobering short story about life with alzheimer's. When Brian learns that the woman who raised him, the mother who loved him and whom he loved has alzheimer's he takes her on a road trip to Nebraska where he reflects on his life and relishes the moments of clarity his mother has. although somewhat sad, this was a nice listen. It was very good writing by Christian Galacar.

Joshua Needham's narration was wonderful. His tone reflected the mood of the story. His voice inflections were spot on and he made this a great listen.

Sweet Little Melancholy Story

Things don't always turn out like you planned, so you make the best of it.
This is a nice little character study of an abandoned child and the mother who took him in who is succumbing to Alzheimer's. They are on a road trip and ...

It was an interesting listen and the narrator did a great job telling the story. I smiled at the end.
