Publisher's Summary

The sparkling debut novel from Sophie White set in the online world of social media and Instagram.

Ali Jones is hell-bent on achieving her #lifegoals: 10,000 Instagram followers and a win at the upcoming Glossie Influencer Awards. So when she inadvertently leads people to believe she is sporting a baby bump and immediately gains thousands of followers, she realises that the Mummy Influencer wave could be her ticket to Insta-success, even if off-screen it feels like her life is falling apart with what's happening to her beloved dad.

But then Tinder Sam, Ali's one-night-stand, resurfaces and seems determined to take his new role as baby daddy seriously. And falling for Sam is definitely not part of Ali's plan.

Meanwhile, Ireland's biggest influencer (and Ali's idol) Shelly Divine has it all...at least on paper. But beneath the immaculately curated feed, cracks are appearing. Shelly harbours a secret from her followers and, more importantly, her husband - but who will be the first to discover what she's been hiding?

As the Glossies approach, what will it take for the women realise what's truly important before they lose what matters most?

Disappointing

I gave up on this. The narration was painful to listen to! I like Sophie White’s podcasts but this wasn’t for me.

So good!

Such a brilliant book, Sophie white is a brilliant author and really sucks you in to this book. It felt like a subject that would resonate with almost everyone, that feeling of keeping up appearances on social media. Such a clever book and really made me think about my own relationship with social media. Have listened to this 4 times now and take even more in each time. Brilliant!

Annoying main character

Whilst I’m of the Instagram generation, I found the main character really unrelatable with her awful and obsessive decision making. The story itself was interesting I much preferred Shelley’s narrative to Ally’s, however it pretty much ended as it started to really get interesting, which is just annoying.

Great story, didn’t love the narration

Really enjoyed the story, loved the suspense! Definitely looking forward to a sequel.
Accents/voices of characters were inconsistent.

great story

I enjoyed the story but the naration grated on my every nerve.I did not enjoy her voice , her accent was all over the place for the characters and the diddly i Irish accent was awful. The OMG Aishling books had an Irish accent but a more real one.

A bit too much

I understand the reason behind this book and it scratched the surface of this 'influencer' trend in Ireland and how ridiculous it really is. However, sometimes it was a bit too Irish with the 'thanks pennys hun' vibes, slightly cringe.
The performance was messy, accents left a lot to be desired and got on my nerves as they switched throughout.

Enjoyable and light

Quite an enjoyable listen. A light book for the most part.

Definitely a very accurate and honest account of what it is like to watch someone waste to dementia while the world whirrs around you. Excellent writing for this part.

Narration a bit stilted in parts where it seemed like the sentences didn't flow, but overall, fine.
