Publisher's summary

Keisha Beale, a street-wise Chicago south-sider two years out of DePaul University, is a quarter million dollars in start-up capital away from realizing her dream of owning a recording studio/record store. She takes the place of her more business-savvy partner in a meeting with Tristan White himself, the venture capitalist they've targeted to fund their business. A bi-racial, African American and Brazilian woman with a troubled past, Keisha has been so focused on her business pursuits that her love life has been non-existent. Tristan White is the devastatingly handsome, 32-year-old CEO of White Enterprises, the firm he built using only the inheritance his mother left him to prove to his father he had the mettle to do it alone. He comes from a long line of wealth, and lives the life of a "one-percenter" on Chicago's Gold Coast. Tristan is accustomed to controlling every aspect of his life given his birth into a world of white privilege.

When Keisha and Tristan's worlds collide, sparks fly, and a fever is ignited in them both that they have never experienced before. It turns out they each have secrets, but together, in the unorthodox arrangement Tristan proposes, they discover passions they never knew they had.

The Ghetto Girl title is, in all truthfulness, a misnomer. Keisha Beale is a highly-educated young woman who just happens to have been born on the other side of the socio-economic tracks. She embraces all of who she is, and navigates almost effortlessly in both worlds.

Erotic, amusing, and in places hilarious, the Ghetto Girl Romance Quadrilogy is a parody with a new take on a Fifty Shades type story that will take you even further into the BDSM word, and promises to make the vanilla original Fifty Shades more colorful.

sexy

I loved the spunk of Kiki and how she stands up to Tristan their first meeting. It's a shame that it ended the way it did. Tristan was demanding but fair. If Kiki trusted him more then maybe it would have ended differently. But I still loved her spunk and willingness to try new things.

Eventually took on a life of it's own

Would you consider the audio edition of Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever to be better than the print version?

I am not sure I did not read the printed version but I do like audio books.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I really enjoyed Tristian. He was a more stable version of Christian Gray and not as haunted. This gave us another version of the infamous story, where is was the female character (Keisha) that was in need of the saving.

What does Marie Hélène bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I do like hearing the different voices of the characters. She is really good with the voices from the different ethnicity's showcased in the book.

I'm ashamed to say I loved it!

Ok Ok, so it is a rip off of Fifty Shades, but it's a good one, it doesn't take itself to seriously and its laugh out loud funny in places. I didn't have high hopes so I was pleasantly surprised by how well written it was, all the references to pop culture made me laugh and reminded me of the old HBO series Dream On. I will be purchasing the rest of the four part story and hope the quality and the narrator remain the same! Also they didn't make the characters sound too ethnic which I appreciate, I mean come on, educated black women don't sound ghetto.

Jungle Fever

I originally read this book years ago, and just now remembered it's existence, boy am I glad I found it again. I enjoy the push and pull between Keisha and Tristan the passion that they both show for one another is refreshing in a way. Yes this may be similar to a lot of stories about a normal girl meeting a billionaire, but somehow these two give the billionaire bdsm romance a new look.

Very Good

Spoiler Ahead This book was picked for me to read in a pick it for me challenge and it was a really good pick. I have had this book on my kindle for about six months I really wasn't sure what to make of it, because I really liked "Fifty Shades of Grey" and I thought that the book was going to make fun of it, boy was I wrong and I am glad that I was. Aspiring recording studio owners, Keisha Beale and her best friend and roommate Jada Jameson, score a rare meeting with venture capitalist Tristan White. Keisha who is a singer and song writer is not really comfortable going to meeting she doesn't have the head for business like Jada who majored in it in college. Keisha is not prepared when she meets Tristan he is nothing like she thought he would be. He is young rich and sexy Tristan is also a Dom and so is his twin brother Nate who is a basketball player. This was a really good book and I liked the dialogue that was going on in Keisha's head triple G and hoochie mama. Tristan who is looking for a new sub makes Keisha an offer that she can't refuse he will give them the money to start their company if she agrees to be his sub. Although she says yes she wants love and romance and to know that the relationship is going somewhere. Both Keisha and Tristan have had difficult childhoods and both of them is not willing to share with the other. Keisha who grew up with a father that beat her and her mother. Tristan introduces her to a whole new world of kinky sex and it was hot some of the sex scenes in this book were hotter than "Fifty Shades". I also liked the fact that Jada was a sub already and she didn't share that with Keisha so she hooks up with Tristan's brother Nate. I also liked Keisha's mother she told it like it was. This was a really good book it was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling this was my first time reading this author and I am already listening to the next book in this series.

Toasty

It's a listen that gets better the longer you listen and by the time you get to the end your anxious for the next addition. Not the best BDSM listen but certainly not the worst. I will be getting the next book in the series.

Omg the voice almost had me stop!

Ok, story is ok, though some of the voices that the character seems to have in her head are so annoying and unnecessary. As an African American woman some of the stereotypes of our people were poorly written and most times offensive.

I was interested in The story underneath so I stuck with it. Someone else may not be as patient. If the same voice actor is on the second book I won’t be able to handle it. So I guess I’ll have to look into spoilers to see how it all ends.
