Excellent collection horribly performed

Such a shame... This company produces the best collections of ghost and horror stories from the nineteenth and early twentieth century to be found in audible's catalogue - diverse, good mixture of well-known pieces and 'forgotten gems' - only to have them ruined utterly by Cathy Dobson, who quite simply should not be let near a recording microphone on any excuse.

Horrible narration

I agree with Leon van Schoonneveldt. The stories are without doubt great, but the narration is so awful I cannot listen to them. I shall return this book if I can find the refund button.

dissapointment

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?

so very sad, I was hoping for more. The 2 stories I coped with were good, but I am sorry to say that after the 2nd story I just could not cope with the reader any more, a very boring and monotone voice. I will be deleting this

Would you be willing to try another one of Cathy Dobson’s performances?

absolutely not! such a terrible reading voice

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Terrible narration

The narrator was incredibly over-dramatic and her reading was so distracting that I found the listening experience to be absolutely terrible. Couldn't even finish the first story properly, but skipped to the second one to see if she sounded the same, and...yep. She did. So I gave up and returned this book, which I'm very sorry about, because I love horror stories.
