Publisher's summary

Set in the aftermath of Betley’s “machine-gun pace” (Booklist) Oath of Honor and the discovery of a deadly global conspiracy, the president requests Logan West to form a covert task force with the mission to dismantle a nameless enemy.

With the full resources of the Justice Department, the intelligence community, and the military (not to mention presidential pardons pre-signed), Logan must battle a secret organization with the connections and funding to rival many first-world nations. The goal of this organization is both singular and sinister - to pit the United States against China in a bid to dismantle the world’s security and economy. Back on US soil, Logan and his task force pursue the elusive foe from the woods of Northern Virginia to the banks of the Chesapeake Bay, from suburban Maryland across the urban sprawl of Washington, DC. The stakes have never been higher for Logan or America itself....

One of the best thrillers of this decade

Wow, does Matthew Betley really mash the pedal to the floor from the first word and never lets up. This is one of the most fast-paced, heart-pounding books that will keep you up listening all night.

I'm a huge fan of George Newbern (from ABC's Scandal), and his narration is fantastic. His narration is a little different than the large majority of thriller narrators (George Guidall, Scott Brick, Ray Porter, Jay Snyder), but I find it refreshing, and I think he is the perfect voice for Logan West.

I have listened to Matthew Betley's debut thriller Overwatch over 50 times, and his second book Oath of Honor probably just about as many. I highly, highly recommend not only checking out Field of Valor, but Oath of Honor and Overwatch too.

Great Book

I have enjoyed listening to all three of the Logan West books. I enjoy the sarcasm and banter, it's one of the things that I enjoyed and now miss from my time in the Marines. The only comment I have is that instead of reading the letters of the acronyms they should be pronounced/read the way the they are used in conversation. Thanks for the story's.

Constant Blasphemy as Poor Substitute for Emotional Expression

I’m done. Sadly this is my last Betley novel. George Newbern is a terrific narrator, but the constant blasphemy gushing out of Every major character’s mouth is just too much. I’m No Evangelical and drop multiple f-bombs in Every discussion of Trump/Pence and their cretinous minions, but Betley canNOT seem to write character verbal interactions w/o hurling JC!!! and GD!!! into Every paragraph. Disappointing because I luuove Betley’s creative and believable story lines drawing on current national and international social and political crises.

i do not appreciate any story that portrays The Secret Service as bad guys! In this case there was an entire unit and tha is inconcievable!

Oy vey

This might be the worst book I’ve ever read. It aspires to be a Nelson de Mille opus with a wisecracking but cool hero who is, of course, an actual hero. Instead this has the literacy sophistication and dramatic sense of two fourteen year olds playing war in the back yard, replete with machine gun noises. Endless fantasy combat and vaguely right-wing gubes.

Short and ends without a resolution

What a joke. Short and ends with no resolution. Please buy the next book if you want a conclusion…or maybe that one ends in the middle as well. No thanks!

I was skeptical

I get tired when I hear authors being compared to Tom Clancy and Vince Flynn. but I have to admit, that having listened to all the books in the series so far, I am a fan and I'm looking forward to my next read

Patriot Thriller

This book was very interesting, however at times I would lose track of the characters, due to the military lingo. I will definitely listen to the following stories.
