A Great Series

A Joanna Brady novel was the first book I read in the J.A. Jance series. I was so impressed by Jance’s writing skills that I read all this series and the other two series. Jance is a master storyteller. In this book, Joanna Brady is up for election for her 3rd term as sheriff. In fact, she delivers a baby girl on election night. She won the election, but her maternity leave is cut short by a serial killer. There is a new character in this book, Deputy Sheriff Garth Raymond. There is a lot of back story telling to bring readers up to date about Raymond. The book is well written. I am unhappy about the serial killer subject. I am so tired of this subject. It is great to visit with all the regular characters and a pleasant visit to Arizona. Jance does a great job working descriptions of the Arizona scenery into the story. I am looking forward to the next episode. The book is ten hours and 48 minutes. Hillary Haber does an excellent job narrating the book. Haber is a voice-over artist and audiobook narrator. She is a multiple Earphone Award winner as well as a multiple Audie Award Finalist. Haber won the Audiofile Magazine’s “Best Voice in Biography and Culture” in 2010.

Not for the meek

I wouldn’t recommend this book due to the graphic torture plot. I enjoy Janice’s books but not this one. Sheriff Brady was only in about half the book.

Very disturbing story

This story was very disturbing and disappointing. I’ve listened to most of her books but this one gave me nightmares. I don’t trust to listen to anymore.

Joanna's World

Field of Bones (Joanna Brady #18) by J.A. Jance Joanna Brady is back. Baby Sage is almost due while her mommy is standing for re-election. This book is told from multiple points of view. While Joanna is on maternity leave, a serial killers dumping ground is found in Cochise County. Her department works the case with Joanna doing work behind the scenes. There is plenty of suspense. We get to see familiar characters, but new deputies give a fresh feel. Old problems with gossip "news reporter" gossip Marliss Shackleford is back causing havoc. The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Hillary Huber is Joanna Brady.

The Great Sheriff Brady’s Team VS a Serial Killer

This series is getting a little long in the tooth. However, the stories are still good as is the character development. The addition of new characters help rejuvenate the series. There are a few moments in this entry where you have to really question the intelligence of a few of the characters. That’s why I couldn’t rate it solid 5s . I really enjoy this series, but as with so many of them, you have to eventually say goodbye. Some people have stated that they don’t care for Huber as the narrator. I think she nails it every time.

Great story

Being a Cochise County resident I especially love this series since it takes place here. J.A. Janice never disappoints. This was a great listen that had me on the edge of my seat throughout.

Field of Bones

I am a huge Janc e fan. I love the way she weaves the story and I feel like I know each character well by the end of the book. I like books where the good guys win and the bad guys go to jail or die. This fits that order.

Thoroughly enjoyed

I like the way the book tells the whole story and doesn’t end where many books do. The story was completed with dignity and grace.

Good story but drawn out

The story was good it just felt like the author was told to draw it out from a 4 hour to 10 Hours way too much background /detail and at times made it very confusing as to what that purpose was
