Witness - Book One of the Seeds of Christianity Series

An old tale told in a new way! Biblically and historically accurate.

Things are good for young Rivkah. Her father's just givenher a lamb to start her own flock, and Shemu'el wants to marry her. The young shepherdess accompanies her father to Bethlehem where, with Mary's help, sheholds her newborn son. But Mary, Joseph and Jesus are soon gone and Herod's soldiers begin killing the children of her village.

Then her intended, Shemu'el, is dragged away into slavery. Divided by fate, united by love, these two young people grow to separate adulthoods, each with their dreams and desires unfulfilled, while the world of Rome and conquest moves inexorably on.

Rivkah eventually marries and raises a family. Life is gooduntil the day she's in Jerusalem for the Passover when three men pass on theirway to crucifixion. As she encounters Jesus a final time, Rivkah makes a life-changing decision and follows to Golgotha. And, when they take him from the cross, this time it's Rivkah who helps Mary hold her son.

Good Book...not so good reader

Where does Witness rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

near the bottom

What other book might you compare Witness to and why?

None comes to mind.

What didn’t you like about Ruth Elsbree’s performance?

I could not finish listening to it. I really tried but her style is not for me. Got on my nerves.

If you could take any character from Witness out to dinner, who would it be and why?

The main character

Any additional comments?

The book itself is pretty good. The narrator made the book impossible for me to finish.

Very entertaining

If you could sum up Witness in three words, what would they be?

suspenseful
informative
engaging

What was one of the most memorable moments of Witness?

. The message that stood out for me is that staying obedient to God’s laws as Rivkah and Shemu’el did, not only guards us against guilt and regret, but brings true happiness because that is what He wants for us. Thus, the most memorable moment was their reunion.

Which character – as performed by Ruth Elsbree – was your favorite?

Rivkah's father

If you could take any character from Witness out to dinner, who would it be and why?

The centurion - because I would like to talk more with him about his realization that "Christ was truly the son of God."
