Publisher's summary

He was a fishing guide and struggling artist from a south George trailer park. She was the beautiful only child of South Carolina's most powerful senator. Yet once Doss Michaels and Abigail Grace Coleman met by accident, they each felt they'd found their true soul mate.

Ten years into their marriage, when Abbie faces a life-threatening illness, Doss battles it with her every step of the way. And when she makes a list of 10 things she hopes to accomplish before she loses the fight for good, Doss is there, too, supporting her and making everything possible. Together they steal away in the middle of the night to embark upon a 130-mile trip down the St. Mary's River - a voyage Doss promised Abbie in the early days of their courtship.

Where the River Ends chronicles their love-filled, tragedy-tinged journey and a bond that transcends all.

Beautiful love story

Narrator was very good. I enjoyed his voice and the different voices were easy to discern. Story had a slow start for me but I hung in there because I love Charles Martin books so much. Glad I did.
Not my absolute favorite CM story but very good, none-the-less. I do recommend this book.

Wonderful. Painful. Amazing.

I’m simply amazed. This is the fifth or sixth book of his I’ve listened to. It was the hardest to get into so far, but it was so worth it. I will never look at cancer patients or their families and friends the same way again. I was in tears throughout much of the second half of the book. And the end...
My chest was so tight and I couldn’t breathe. It was so beautiful and painful. Charles Martin has a real gift.

memories we all know or will

No disappointment, Charles Martin gives detail that pulls you into the story, Having lost my husband at an early age of 40 from CA, it would have been easy to stop the book. So happy I didn't. Our special days were on another river in fl with a zodiac...A bond only Charles can inspire.

Great story

This story starts a little slow, but then picks up and is very good. The characters are well developed and the narration is super.

Perfect Ending.

Charles Martin writes so eloquently and descriptively, once bitten by one of his books, it’s easy to go back for more. Often set along rivers and under trees the stories create peacefulness when reading. Also, a great choice for those readers with descriptive sexual content issues for Charles Martin can write a hot love story without that. I will admit though in this novel it did drag a bit in the ½ to ¾’s area for me before finishing better than you could imagine.

A love story told from the middle out in a man’s prospective, it is not overly thought provoking or sentimental. This is a story about a man trying to make the last days of his wife’s life exactly how she wants it to be. I think what makes this book so enjoyable and interesting was the depth that one can love when it’s not easy. It’s not easy to see the best in people when they are not at their best, but if there is true love - it's never a burden.

Loved the story!

I loved the story but was really disappointed about some of the words he used. A man trying to fulfill his wife’s bucket list. A deep thoughtful story. The curse words made me put four stars.

Great writer good read.

I read this after reading his book "Chasing Fireflies" which was great. This book was good but seemed to drag in a few places. I like Charles Martin's writing style. He writes about trailer parks and high society with ease. This is a book I normally would never have picked but it was inspirational. The ending made this a worthwhile read.
