Critic Reviews

"[A] feel-good story full of humor and hope." (Library Journal)
"Bowen's newest release in the black Christian fiction genre revisits characters from earlier novels while it offers an entertaining mix of humor, morality, and steamy relationships as well as an intimate portrayal of academic politicking and college sports." (Booklist)

Big Snoozer

The author gave way too much detail on little things that was not important through out the story instead of focusing on a dialogue. I fell asleep a couple of times listening to this book as well as skipping ahead. Not worth the buy

Great Book!

Would you consider the audio edition of Up at the College to be better than the print version?

I really enjoyed the print and the audio edition. Audio editions are great during long commutes or waiting for my daughter in my car.

If you could take any character from Up at the College out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I would love to take Yvonne Fountain out to dinner. I admire her faith in God and ability to forgive her ex-hubbie. Forgivenessis always followed by a blessing.

COULD NOT GET THRU IT

I could not really follow this book very well. could not really follow the charcters. The book started with her getting divorced from her husband and moving frm the house with the kids. I thought the book woul focus more on her marriage with Darryl and how the kids adjusted to being without a father and how God helped her make it thru.

Funny and Boring

Overall the book is very hard to keep up with too many themes running together. There are some funny parts but just a little over the top. I understand the African-American Christian genre but this was too much.
