Publisher's Summary

A young mother's heart is most ripped from her body, as she holds her dying baby boy in her arms. Not three feet away lay her dead husband. She saw as two men saddled and stole Morris horses and a third gunned down two of the people she loved most.

When the posse came looking for the men, US Marshal Shorty Thompson would not let her take up the trail after them. A woman's place is in the home, not riding with a posse. That is all right, she would go alone. She knew how to ride a horse and use her guns as well as any man. Living on a ranch, her husband had taught her everything she needed to know about surviving years ago.

She had seen all three faces of the men, and the horses they stole had the Circle M brand. She would know them anywhere and those men she would find no matter how long it took.

When found they would face the wrath of her justice, not laws that put them into prison for a few years where they would have every chance to escape.

No, these men will know what real fear is as a mother's wrath slowly, and very painfully, destroys them. They would be looking forward to, begging for a quick trip to hell just to get away before she is through. Those men will suffer like no others before them.

    "Revenge is a Great Motivator"
Where does U.S. Marshal Shorty Thompson: A Mother's Wrath rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It ranks as a good western with a different twist.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Adeline -- a woman not to be messed with. She was tough and smart and not at all sappy.

Which character – as performed by Kevin Iggens – was your favorite?

I thought he did a good job on all the characters. He transitioned well and I was never lost as to which character he was portraying.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I like it when she maimed the killers one at a time --- I appreciated that it is not "PC" but was in the context of the story time.

    Any additional comments?

Sometimes I just need a good western and this fit the bill. I was given this book free by audiobook boom in exchange for an honest review.

    "Ok"

I got this book via audiobook boom. This story made Shorty out to be incompetent. I understand it was all about the mother but Shorty's role should not have been so diminished that he seemed like Barney Fife. My idea of Shorty was clouded by this book. The author also lead me to believe that Shorty would get the girl this time but in the end, Dink got the girl. Shorty could only follow in the woman's footsteps even down to the killing of the bad guys. That is not his role. He should have at least had the idea to sit outside the jail cell window and listen. The narrator was still very good and the performance gets a five star but not so the story.

    "Strong Story!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I'm not sure I would recommend this story to my friends because it actually contains very little romance. However the story about a mother's determination to seek justice against the men who murdered her husband and small son was really riveting. She is a strong character and single-minded in her pursuit of the men despite how discouraging and even obstructive she finds Marshall Shorty Thompson.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked how the mother stuck to her guns. She was skilled, confident and determined.

Which character – as performed by Kevin Iggens – was your favorite?

Of course, I liked the mother.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened to the book in several sittings.
