Publisher's Summary

An explosive tale of spiritual warfare and the origin story of the most controversial book of the Bible: Revelation. Book one in the shocking controversial series Chronicles of the Apocalypse.

Ancient Rome, A.D. 64. Alexander, a young Jewish doctor, is torn between his loyal Roman citizenship and his passionate Jewish faith. As a personal physician to Roman Prefect Severus, he is ushered into the circle of the evil emperor Nero Caesar, a tyrannical beast with diabolical plans of Christian genocide.

Nero blames the Great Fire of Rome on the Christians, which leads to the horrific persecution of the early church including the martyrdom of the apostles Peter and Paul. Alexander finds himself in the middle of this madness, trying to stay alive and protect the Jews from the emperor's paranoia.

Nero discovers that an unknown apostle has written a secret apocalypse scroll rumored to prophesy the destruction of Rome and the end of the world. So he orders Severus and Alexander to find the author, destroy all copies of his scroll and kill him.

But Severus's servant, a bold Christian woman named Cassandra, holds a dark secret that opens the door to a world of spiritual warfare they're not ready to face. It will lead them directly to the true meaning of the apocalypse, the book of Revelation, and it will change their lives forever.

Not reflective of previous books

First, let me say that I love this author, have re-read most of his books and anxiously await his new releases.

This book was a disappointment all the way up until the last 3 hours. Everything before that was long, boring, and easily forgotten.

I hope the next installment is better!

Tyrant

Awesome. Another classic by Brian Godawa. A good eye opener for one of the most misunderstood books in the Bible.
The only small section I did not particularly care for was Godawa's presentation of the 3 angel's attempt to capture Appollion before his decent to Tartarus. Godawa showed 2 of the 3 angels engaged in their silly rivalry and inattentive and that was part cause of them not capturing him. I could not wrap my mind around the fact that the evil one was stronger, swifter and far more focused than God's angels. But the book was an absolute classic; can't wait until Remnant comes to Audio books. Godawa is such an awesome narrator Great job!

Great to listen to, but print version is footnoted

Would you consider the audio edition of Tyrant: Rise of the Beast to be better than the print version?

Godawa is great to listen to, but he says this book is heavily footnoted which is not part of the audible version

Heart Wrenching anf Fascinating

great first book in this series of the events after the author's last book, 'Jesus Triumphant'. The principalities and powers operate more in the background, or as spirits now.
I feel like this book has laid a lot of groundwork for the story to unfold. As usual, it reads like a suspenseful novel and is based on historical Biblical and extra-biblical literature. Great novel.

Challenging but interesting

Brian Godawa is a fascinating author. He challenges my paradigms but backs his points up with facts. He writes both scholarly (at a lay level) and ties it in with both his non-fiction and his historical fiction.

Tyrant was a great book. I didn't want it to end! I recommend his books, but be ready to expand your understanding and get out of your box.

Good work

If you could sum up Tyrant: Rise of the Beast in three words, what would they be?

Exposes True Powers

What was one of the most memorable moments of Tyrant: Rise of the Beast?

The fate of Paul

Which scene was your favorite?

The dwarf angel

If you could rename Tyrant: Rise of the Beast, what would you call it?

Behind the Veil

Any additional comments?

It is not quite child friendly. Some parts almost become too much of the devils perspective.

Knowledge of the Bible comes ALIVE and REAL!!

Where does Tyrant: Rise of the Beast rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The most impactful.

What did you like best about this story?

The reality of the the times was created through relationships and with graphic imagery. I read the Bible and it will never be the same experience because of Gadawa's work. No more emotional distance from what the followers of Christ faced in this era. It gave clarity to the Nero's insanity and brutal psychopathic personality. His power could command the brutality, gore and inhumanity.... to a cheering audience. The book or Revelation will be read anew. This is an amazing work, creating clarity to symbolic representations to the final writings of John.

Which character – as performed by Brian Godawa – was your favorite?

None Specific

Who was the most memorable character of Tyrant: Rise of the Beast and why?

None Specific, apart from Nero, I "got" them and their journey, very relatable. That is why it is hard for me to chose one in particular.

Any additional comments?

I am so grateful to have this new found knowledge of these times and the symbolic imagery in the book or Revelation. Also, being able to go to Brian Godawa's website for his the massive amount of research gave authentic underpinnings to the story. His character illustrations is a bonus. This is an extraordinary completion to the listening experience. For two days II lost sleep because I could not close my audible "read". A listening "page turner"!

It was alright

I like the story line. However I would have preferred a more conclusive ending. It left me hanging.
