Publisher's summary

Do you ever have the feeling that your life is going nowhere?

That the dreams you once harbored are far from the truth? Do you hate your job? Do you hate your life? Dayton Greene does. In fact, he lives his life in an unrelenting cycle of self-loathing, pity, and distaste.

To make matters worse, he earns a living cleaning up after those who realized those very delusions, taking matters into their own hands. From homicide to suicide, heart attacks and hemorrhaging. Dayton, along with his brother and sister-in-law, have seen it all. Soon, Dayton will learn what it means to lose everything, when he comes up against a corpse who has more than one trick up his sleeve and resting in peace isn't one of them.

Trickery of a corpse

This was a very good read.It was at times gross, but the storyline is worth it.A suicide clean up guy encounters the ghost of the suicide he is cleaning up.What ensues is nothing short of trickery.Rick Gregory was the perfect narrator.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

Corpse Gruesomeness!

If it's gross and deathly, I seem to just love it. So, the whole clean-up didn't bother me one bit, in fact it was awesome. I really liked this story, I tend to be a little on the dark side, so I can relate. I LOVED the narration, Rick Gregory did a fantastic job. It's a story, so not too long of a commitment, and I enjoyed it.

Gruesome!

Very gruesome short story about two brothers and their crime scene clean up business. Not too gory, but definitely creepy! Excellent narration by Rick Gregory! As always, he does an outstanding job telling the story.

great narration, mediocre story

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The story itself was just ok. The whole short story is mostly just shock and awe with little depth. The narration, is truly what kept me going. The narrator made the listening experience much more engaging than the material for me. All in all, I wouldn't really recommend this book as there are so many others out there that are better executed.

Overall, a Mediocre Story.

There is nothing really terrible about this story, other than I kept waiting for it to end. The characters were two-dimensional and their motivations are never clear. Even the climax seemed pointless and unclever. All viceral shock, no real twist. The narrator was clear and steady, but even he seemed disinterested in the story he was telling.

Interesting premise

I enjoyed it. The narrator put on a good performance as usual. Character motivation didn't resonate so much with me, but I thought it was an interesting premise and a good performance.

Crime Scene Clean up crew meh

The best part of this story is the narration by Gregory, he keeps what would be an otherwise uninteresting look at a couple of brothers doing crime scene clean up. I've done that job a few times, and it sucks. This isn't going to be an overly long review. The start of the book is solid, well fleshed out, and paced well. It gets your attention, but somewhere around the halfway point it starts to meander, and almost wanders off, leaving your attention behind. The ending was meh. I was hoping for some sort of twist or shock, or something unexpected and got meh. I don't know what happened, as it started pretty good, but the characters lacked depth, to say the were two-dimensional gives them one more dimension than they deserved.

Like I say, the only good bit about this is Gregory's narration, he manages to hold your attention while the book starts to walk away on you. If it were anyone else narrating this I would have to admit this would have a few stars less, just because he holds it all together so well. Not much to say after that. For a book under 5 hours I need some real bang for the buck, something that pays off in the end. Trickery doesn't have that, so the story is just three stars. Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. Getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

not for me

I really tied to get into this book but just could not. The narrator wasn't bad but I just did not care for the story.
