Publisher's summary

A sweeping new drama from the beloved, best-selling author of Roses.

Texas in the early 1900s, its inhabitants still traveling by horseback and barely familiar with the telephone, was on the cusp of an oil boom that, unbeknownst to its residents, would spark a period of dramatic changes and economic growth. In the midst of this transformative time in Southern history, two unforgettable characters emerge and find their fates irrevocably intertwined: Samantha Gordon, the privileged heiress to the sprawling Las Tres Lomas cattle ranch near Fort Worth, and Nathan Holloway, a sweet-natured and charming farm boy from far north Texas. As changes sweep the rustic countryside, Samantha and Nathan's connection drives this narrative compulsively forward as they love, lose, and betray. In this grand yet intimate audiobook, Meacham once again delivers a heartfelt, big-canvas story full of surprising twists and deep emotional resonance.

I felt a bit led by the nose...

The book spells out the storyline repetitively. The reader never gets the theatrical climax one hopes for in a family saga. There is just too much explanation prior to any event to keep excitement in the story.

Excellent book but..,,

This was a very good book. Well worth the credit. I'm very glad I read it, but i did not think it was as good as Somerset and Roses.

Great story, too quick of an ending

Loved the story, the character development and the setting but after 80 some long chapters I felt like the ending was a rushed tying up of loose ends.

Not your common love story

Well I’m embarrassed to admit that I do not read love stories but now I will! The characters in this novel make you fall in love with them. I feel like I got to know members of my own family and was cheering for Samantha and Sloan all the way. Don’t all families have secrets? But letting go of secrecy is so much better. I loved the way the ending was as natural as falling off a log and felt exactly right. A very entertaining story thank you very much.

No one write like Meacham

There are really no words to do this author justice. I started with her first book Roses and I've been her biggest fan since. Just read it. And all of her other titles. You won't be disappointed. Something for everyone!

Great story!

Would you consider the audio edition of Titans to be better than the print version?

I am sorry to say no. I would have rather read this in print because I didn't care for the narrators at times.

What did you like best about this story?

The story itself. The characters, their lives. The main characters are good people and I loved reading about them, kept rooting for them. It was simply a wonderful story and whenever I had to stop, I couldn't wait to get back to it.

What does Casey Holloway and Brian Hatch bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Both narrators seemed to have trouble simply reading the words at times. They seemed very stilted, slow to pronounce the word, maybe because they were putting an accent to it, but it took me out of the flow of the story and I am always sorry when that happens as being able to listen to a great story is always such a treat. I do a great deal of hand work so listening to a book is perfect. Some of their characters sounded great, just so slow at pronunciation I noticed it. Other characters were very shrill and I was glad they didn't have that big a part in the story!

If you could rename Titans, what would you call it?

Great name as it is

Any additional comments?

This was a really great book and hope Ms. Meacham keeps them coming. I am going to read Somerset now, then Roses again. I am looking forward to both.

This book kept me wanting to hear more!

Would you listen to Titans again? Why?

No. I don't care to listening, reading, or watching a second time.
Once is enough.

What about Casey Holloway and Brian Hatch ’s performance did you like?

They were very good. I enjoyed the fact that there were two different people reading. It helped keep me on task of what was happening.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes. When Trevor found out Nathan and Samantha were his children. The excitement he showed when he was ready to introduce them to his mother; also when Nathan told his grandmother that her other son committed suicide and Trevor was keeping the secret for her benefit.

Added to my list of favorites!

Couldn't stop thinking about this book the whole time I was reading it. Getting back to the story was my main goal of the evening!
