Publisher's Summary

The unforgettable and achingly tender new novel from Sarah Winman, author of the international best seller When God Was a Rabbit and the Sunday Times Top 10 best seller A Year of Marvellous Ways.

It begins with a painting won in a raffle: 15 sunflowers, hung on the wall by a woman who believes that men and boys are capable of beautiful things. And then there are two boys, Ellis and Michael, who couldn't be closer. And the boys become men, and then they meet Annie, and it changes nothing and everything.

Tin Man sees Sarah Winman follow the acclaimed success of When God Was a Rabbit and A Year of Marvellous Ways with a love letter to human kindness and friendship, loss and living.

    "Delightful!"

I have just finished listening to Tin Man and I have that sad feeling that always comes when you have finished a wonderful book.

A simple story but so beautifully written and narrated that it feels like an epic.

I cannot recommend this highly enough.

    "Heartbreakingly beautiful and wonderfully narrated"
Would you listen to Tin Man again? Why?

Yes, I would definitely listen again as I'm sure that I've missed subtle nuances first time round.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved both Ellis and Michael and felt a great deal of tenderness towards them both.

Have you listened to any of Sarah Winman’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I haven't listened to any of her other performances but heard her read from The year of Marvellous Ways at the Hay Festival and she has a wonderful voice.

    Any additional comments?

A very special book that I will both return to listen to and read

    "Excellent, moving and important"

I really didn't fancy this book from the name. Tin man, it just didn't jump out me. It said wizard of oz. and I didn't think I'd like the story, even tho I had no idea what was coming.

A year of marvellous ways was one of my favourite books. It made me feel warm and like I'd been told somthing really important,

Tin man is completely different however still warm, it's a love story, it's a tragedy, it's a hopeful, it's scary, it's a very important story that's glazed over far to much these days. But left me thinking, maybe things worked out the way they where always going to, like a human tragedy.

This book is beautiful and sad, the characters draw you into their world and you can't get enough of it. Stunning.
