Publisher's summary

Third generation Texas Ranger Tyler Steele is the last of a dying breed - a modern-day cowboy hero living in a world that doesn't quite understand his powerful sense of right and wrong and instinct to defend those who can't defend themselves.

Despite his strong moral compass, Ty has trouble seeing his greatest weakness. His hard outer shell, the one essential to his work, made him incapable of forging the emotional connection his wife, Andie, so desperately needed.

Now retired, raising their son, Brodie, on his own, and at risk of losing his ranch, Ty does not know how to rebuild from the rubble of his life. The answer comes in the form of Samantha and her daughter, Hope, on the run from a seemingly inescapable situation. They are in danger, desperate, and alone. Though they are strangers, Ty knows he can help - protecting the innocent is what he does best. As his relationship with Sam and Hope unfolds, Ty realizes he must confront his true weaknesses if he wants to become the man he needs to be.

Very nice

This is a very good book but there is to know that it has some situations that are not for children and kind of thought to hear the narrator is wonderful the author went on describing everything to the t and that to be honest makes you turn desperate

Best Cowboy Book I've Ever Read!

As usual Mr. Martin uses a lot of imagery to engage and inspire his audience.

Nice but ...

I’ve listened to a few of his books now, and this one is enjoyable, but it feels like the perspective of the little girl is superfluous. Most of her parts could have been deleted, and the story would have been stronger.

Charles Martin can write!!!!!!

Another Charles Martin book that is just amazing. He brings everything to life. Twists, turns, tears.... A must listen. Sometimes the accents were a bit annoying but not enough to stop listening. It held my interest from the first page. I will continue to listen to his books.

Martin Depicts Life

There's so much life, real life, in every Charles Martin book. He doesn't sugar-coat or fantasize how we think life should be but describes the pain and stress of daily decisions. The characters and plots have been different enough for them to stand on their own and be remembered. I look forward to reading or listening to more of his books.
