Publisher's Summary

A hilarious Southern debut with the kind of characters you meet once in a lifetime.

Rising sixth grader Miss Moses LoBeau lives in the small town of Tupelo Landing, NC, where everyone's business is fair game and no secret is sacred. She washed ashore in a hurricane eleven years ago, and she's been making waves ever since. Although Mo hopes someday to find her "upstream mother," she's found a home with the Colonel--a café owner with a forgotten past of his own--and Miss Lana, the fabulous café hostess. She will protect those she loves with every bit of her strong will and tough attitude. So when a lawman comes to town asking about a murder, Mo and her best friend, Dale Earnhardt Johnson III, set out to uncover the truth in hopes of saving the only family Mo has ever known.

Full of wisdom, humor, and grit, this timeless yarn will melt the heart of even the sternest Yankee.

Great Book

Great story! We listened to this as a family (9-year old twins and an 11 year old). It is a great adventure with friendship, mystery, and lessons about love and kindness. Wonderful story!

Enjoyable for the whole family!

So much fun and the kids were using the accent for weeks. The mystery kept us guessing and attentive the entire time. We will definitely check out the other books in the series because we love the characters.

Amazing book!

I am a 4th grade teacher and I read this book with my higher readers. They absolutely loved it and had so many good discussions. Being able to occasionally allow then to sit in a group and listen to the book was really helpful and they enjoyed it! I also really enjoyed it and will definitely be reading it with my next group of kiddos.

narrators the best

cute story my 5th grader is reading in school. got the audio to keep up with his homework and turned out to simply enjoy having listened to it. Narrator did a fantastic job. she gave real effort into proforming for each character which for me always makes the story.

Great characters, great setting, great story

If you could sum up Three Times Lucky in three words, what would they be?

Developed - the characters and setting feel whole and complete.
Fun - the humor is clever
Exciting - there's just enough drama to make it exciting but not scary

What about Michal Friedman’s performance did you like?

Michal's voice sounds age-appropriate and has a subtle Southern accent that lent itself nicely to the story.

Any additional comments?

I'm part of a children's literature book club, and this still remains one of my favorite selections. It's a great example of the creativity and cleverness that is often lacking in adult literature (which seems to be primarily about sex and shock value or just downright depressing). I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a good yarn, regardless of their age.

On a side note, I totally understand why Mo has a crush on Lavendar. I think I might have a little one, too.
