Publisher's summary

The Wild Rose is a part of the sweeping, multigenerational saga that began with The Tea Rose and continued with The Winter Rose.

It is London, 1914. World War I looms on the horizon, women are fighting for the right to vote, and explorers are pushing the limits of endurance in the most forbidding corners of the earth. Into this volatile time, Jennifer Donnelly places her vivid and memorable characters: Willa Alden, a passionate mountain climber who lost her leg while summiting Kilimanjaro with Seamus Finnegan and will never forgive him for saving her life; Finnegan, a polar explorer who tries to forget Willa as he marries a beautiful young schoolteacher back home in England; Max von Brandt, a handsome German sophisticate who courts high society women, but has a secret agenda in wartime London. Many other beloved characters from The Winter Rose continue their adventures in The Wild Rose as well.

With myriad twists and turns, thrilling cliffhangers, and fabulous period detail and atmosphere, The Wild Rose provides a highly satisfying conclusion to an unforgettable trilogy.

Loved the entire series!!!!

This is a great listen, as are the two previous books in the series, with all it's machinations.
The characters are well developed so that you can not help but root for them at every turn and misfortune. The ending of this one is somewhat unrealistic, but certainly does nothing to distract the listener from enjoying all 3 books.
Jill Tanner's narration is simply wonderful. She brings the characters & the story to life.
I could listen to her forever!!!! I will now search for more books in which she is does the narration.
Don't hesitate to buy the series if you like entertaining and imaginative, historical novels, but you must read it in the order it was written.

The perfect ending

I had a little trouble getting into this one, but this one had so.e politics in it and I dont like politics, but the story was just as wonderful as the other two books and it had the perfect ending. The author did wrap it up in a pretty little bow, but it was a thrilling journey to get there. And it turns out that this is what you want for the characters, they've had it so hard and now I feel like I'm leaving them in a good place, a place to heal and grow. Thank you Jennifer Donnelly for this trilogy.

Great Trilogy

I fell in love with these characters and was very sad to say goodbye. I really liked how one book flowed right into the other. the plot was well developed, with lots of twists and turns. The characters were people I would know when I met them and most I would like to get to know better! highly recommend all three books!

It's Over - Nooooo!!!

This has been a great series and the end did not disappoint. i was so exhausted with all the twist and turns. I highly recommend this book, this series. If you like historical fiction with a well developed story line and characters, then this is for you.
I hope others enjoy it as much as I did. Maybe Ms. Donnelly could pick the story back up with Katie or one of the other children. I'd love to see Katie take on Parliament.

The Wild Rose

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Wild Rose?

Book 2 was my favorite of the trilogy, so any part that was pertaining to Sid and India and their continued story was enjoyable.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The first time I read this trilogy I was on a weeks vacation and it took all week to read them. They are big sink your teeth into books. When I went back to work and people asked if I went anywhere I said, "Yeah, 1900s London". Best vacation I've had in a long time. Listening to it being read to me was extremely enjoyable.

Any additional comments?

PLEASE DON'T READ THIS BOOK UNLESS YOU'VE READ THE TEA ROSE AND THE WINTER ROSE.
One review commented that Willa was selfish and self-centered. Her character was introduced and developed in The Winter Rose. In The Wild Rose she is selfish and self-centered, but if you know her history she's better understood which makes the ending so much sweeter.

I highly recommend The Wild Rose..but I do suggest you start with Donnellys first read of this trilogy..The Tea Rose then Winter Rose..the narrator is fabulous and Donnellys character depth and development in this series is absolutely phenomenal! Your emotions take a roller coaster ride that draws every part of your being into an imaginary reality!! Fabulous!
