Publisher's summary

What would you do if a 500-year-old witch wanted to turn your body into her new home?

Morcant and Blake Korrigan own a little shop of horrors, where witches congregate and people ending up dead isn't rare. When Karen Hiltzman joins their coven, she has no idea what she's getting into. Drawn in, the group convinces her to recruit her best friend, Sarah Matthews, after discovering that she bears a very special birthmark; one that indicates she's the girl they've been waiting for.

Eager to reincarnate a witch put to death by an angry mob 500 years prior, Morcant unleashes a spell; a dark and sinister curse. His ritual transforms Sarah's body and will bring the dreaded Brenna back to life when it's completed. Blake wants to stop him; but will he be strong enough to defeat his elder sibling, and if he does...will he be able to let her go when it's done?

Good Read

The Wicked Awakened was a good read by Samantha Jacobey. Morcant and Blake own a little shop of horrors. It's here that witches congregate and people end up dead. Karen Hiltzman joins the coven and is convinced to recruit her best friend Sarah Matthews. They are hoping that Sarah will be the new vessel for a five hundred year old witch. I enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

Entertaining & Enjoyable

Samantha Jacobey has brilliantly composed a paranormal tale that is refreshing and unique; I was captivated from start to end. The premise is fantastic, fast-paced, and action-packed, loaded with witches, magic, spell casting, betrayal, and murder. The storyline is strong and not predictable, you'll be wondering what's next. The characters were intriguing with distinct personalities. As for Sarah and Blake, their relationship is complexed, I really enjoyed interacting and rooted for both of them and a happy ending.

Joana Garcia did a marvelous job narrating this audiobook. She depicted the characters flawlessly, breathing life into them. Overall, The Wicked Awakened is an engaging listen with quality plot and character development. I recommend the audiobook to all paranormal urban fantasy enthusiasts. An Interesting Storyline

This book is my first by this author but I thought it sounded good so I took a chance and listened to it. The story was one which grabbed me from the beginning. The story starts when two friends, Sarah and Karen, go to a market where Karen purchases a necklace for Sarah's birthday which is on Halloween in a few days time. When Sarah holds it, she feels an electric current and is told by the man selling it to her it has magic in it.

Sarah used to be into the goth look when she was in high school, but claims to not believe in it anymore, however, Karen does believe and is trying to join a coven of witches which is run by Morcant and his brother Blake.

Sarah has a birthmark which makes Morcant believe she is to be the means of bringing back to life a witch, Brenna, who has been dead for five hundred years. Brenna will take over Sarah’s body when the spell cast by Morcant is completed. But Blake does not agree with his brother bringing Brenna back and decides to do anything he can to help save Sarah and defeat his elder sibling.

I could tell you more, but I won't as that would involve spoilers which I don't want to give. What I will say is that the story is different and quite fast-paced there are some sexy scenes and hot chemistry too. The narration was very well done by Joana Garcia.

I was given a copy of this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

Romance novel, not my cup of tea

Romance novel, not my cup of tea

romantic fiction novels are usually not my thing. But a good plot and good characters can save that. I felt the narration was tight (the book isn't very long). still dialogue was funny and i wanted to see how the story would go.
