Riveting and Beautifully Written

The story is timely and riveting but I was surprised by the beauty and skill of the writing. Although told from three points of view, in two time periods, it was not confusing and continually moved forward at an ever-quickening pace. Definitely a page-turner but I had to stop many times to take in a phrase, or thought.
"Fault wasn't only at the end of a line, but distributed all along, point to point, person to person: an accumulation of small, guilty contributions."
"Not all secrets are sins in need of forgiveness. But secrets are central to a person's being. They are who we are. The truth of us can be found in our secrets."
First time I used the highlight function on my Kindle!
The narration took me a short while to get into but then I thought she did and amazing job of upping the tension and keeping the characters recognizable.
