Opulent doesn't begin to describe the Arizona getaway where Lowell Thurman, his wife Rachel, and their three young sons have come for one glorious week. Everything at The Reata is perfect - although Rachel is a bit unnerved by the openly lustful gaze of one of the gardeners, something she doesn't mention to Lowell. Nor does he tell her about the frightening sensation he has in the pool of hands clutching at him, trying to pull him under.

Never a dull moment
I enjoyed every page from start to end. The characters are believable and easy to connect to, but there is no wasting of words on overly descriptive and unnecessary details of their personal environments, relationships or conditions. The delightfully, creepy thing is how this tale drew from that little, dark place in my mind that tells me 'this could happen here; could almost be happening now'. From that aspect, it was a bit reminiscent of some of Stephen King's novels, you know, like it could be my town, my neighborhood.

The Store delivers the goods
This is only the second book I've read from Bentley Little (The Resort was first), and I feel I'm really catching my stride with his writing. The Store is an interesting and demented take on our country's Walmart-complex and how far we're willing to go for the lowest prices and convenience. At least on the surface. Under the creepy surface is a smart social study of community in a time of fear and struggle. Visually disturbing moments of pure shock, good characters and terrifying Night Managers round out what was indeed a very enjoyable story.

So creepy
This was so weird. I couldn’t stop listening. At first the readers voice seemed cold and over articulated, but as you get deeper into the story it is perfect. Well done

Be afraid when the Store comes to your town!
I really enjoyed this. it reminded me of when I was going through my own personal hell as a Walmart associate. Mr. Little has a sinister mind, and I was genuinely shocked by the places he took us. overall good horror story!
