Publisher's summary

Katherine Woodville's sister never gave her a choice. A happy girl of modest means, Kate hardly expected to become a maker of kings. But when her sister impulsively marries King Edward IV in secret, Katherine's life is no longer hers to control.

Critic reviews

"[Higginbotham] hits another historical high note in her latest fictional foray into the British monarchy. . . . This fictional prelude to the Tudor era will appeal to fans of Philippa Gregory's historicals." ( Booklist)

Enjoyable Listen

Where does The Stolen Crown rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Enjoyable listen. This story at least allowed this couple to fall in love with each other, thou in historical records they did not. Was an interesting take on the Great Aunt of Henry VIII.

Most enjoyable

I enjoyed the narration and the format of when Harry was talking and Kate.
This is the first book in which Ling Richard confesses to the killing of the boys which was interesting .

A little boring

I found this book to be a bit boring. The narrators were very good, but it seemed to go on forever. I usually binge books on the royals, but I found this one difficult to get through .

Good, light "reading"

The story is sweet, in places rather melodramatic and the characters seem a little contrived at times, which was not helped by the narrator's song-song style of reading. However, the research that has gone into the book is admirable. Overall, it was an enjoyable story.

well-written & imaginative

Well-written and imaginative storyline. I actually listened to it twice, once last year. The author is my favorite writer of historical fiction.

Enjoyable historical fiction.

Liked the historical research and human qualities given to the characters. Will listen more by Higginbothum.

Terrific Performance

The written version was tiresome and unreadable for me. This performance was well done and quite entertaining.

Exceptionally Entertaining

This was a wonderful book. I already owned this book in print but was so captivated by the audio sample that I just had to download it. I enjoyed this story/narration more than I have enjoyed any others for quite some time. Both narrators were beyond excellent.

The history is off in a few places,

but it is fiction after all. It held my attention despite Katherine's French accent by the male narrator.
