Publisher's summary

What is heaven? What is hell? Ellie lives with the fear that she is an abomination. An affront to God. If her Bible Belt community were to ever discover Ellie's desires for the intimate touch of a woman, then her husband, pastor, friends, and neighbors would all despise and shun her. But by way of the World Wide Web, Ellie finds a kindred spirit in Lori Morris, a beautiful young woman with a hideous secret. Brought together by their lust, their shame, and a shared sense of hopelessness, Ellie and Lori agree to end their lives in a single night of sex, torture, depravity, and finally suicide in a luxurious hotel. But Lori has another agenda: to escape an oppressive force that could be God, or possibly the devil. In truth, he's something far, far worse. Just remember: He wants us broken.

an absolute joy, from start to finish.

Nicole Cushing is a delight, her imagination kicks open the doors that other writers, no matter how subversive, leave locked.
The reader is perfect, she matches the tone beautifully so that the unknowing listener has absolutely no idea the thrills that await in this gorgeously twisted tale.
Highly recommended for those of a stronger disposition... fans of De Sade and Lautremont take heed.

An Awry Online Connection

The Sadist’s Bible by Nicole Cushing and narrated by Julia Duval is an audiobook that is incredibly tough to review without writing spoilers. If the publishers summary has you at all interested in the subject matter and you are not an easily offended religious person try this novella-length audiobook. Spoiler Alert-this is a unique story about two women who meet online using the social network. Ellie is a devoutly religious woman staying up late online on the computer. She lives a good life; works is married but has no children. She and her husband have given up trying. She feels something is wrong with her more than infertility.

Online she meets someone who is a person she feels a connection to Lori Morris. This connection awakens feelings that are in conflict with her church and her social circle. Finally, Lori convinces Ellie to meet up with her at a hotel, have sex with her, and then both of them commit suicide together. Little does she realize Lori is mentally ill, has a criminal record, and a special needs child she plans to kill before meeting Ellie.

The story does hold the listener’s attention. It is short and sometimes graphic and wicked in its challenges to what many people believe are the norms of Christian concepts of Heaven and Hell. Pain and Suffering. The narrative makes a few shifts between characters and may be confusing for a second or two. This audiobook will not be for everyone but it will hold your attention until the end if you are interested in wanting to see what happens next.

The narration is provided by Julia Duval. Ms. Duval did an amazing job narrating this audiobook. She was able to craft some really interesting voices that were meek, sad, seductive, and horrific. I was really impressed with her vocal performance in this short audio production. The Sadist Bible has really excellent production value from 01 Publishing. The production was sharp and crisp throughout the entire audiobook.

Wonderful Experience!

If you could sum up The Sadist's Bible in three words, what would they be?

dark, sinful, BDSM

What did you like best about this story?

It started fast and never slowed down. You wanted to know where this rabbit hole went. And when you got there you were NOT disappointed.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES!!

Any additional comments?

I read the novella first and had to get the audio when it came out. Julia Duval's voice adds another element to the storytelling that kept me engaged though I knew where it was going.

Indescribable, But So Good!

Story – 4.5/5
Narration- 5/5

“The Sadist’s Bible” by Nicole Cushing is my new most different thing I’ve read. I mean that in a good way because I crave different!

The story is indescribable, so I won’t try. But I will say that if you are a religious conservative then this tale will trigger you six ways from Sunday! So, beware!

Listening to this was weird, brutal, erotic and surreal. I need to do it again, soon!

Recommendation – if you like your weird served on a brutal platter, then give this a try!

Hoping for a sexy supernatural story but...

What I got was grotesque horror. I am sorry I finished it. Not for me.
