Publisher's summary

There's a body in a trunk; a dead girl's reflection is caught in a mirror; and one corpse is back from the grave, while another is envisioned in the recurring nightmare of a terrified eccentric. What's behind such ghastly misdeeds? Try money, revenge, passion, and pleasure. With multiple motives, multiple victims, and multiple suspects, it's going to take a multitude of talent to solve these clever crimes.

In this inviting collection, Agatha Christie enlists the services of her finest - Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, and Parker Pyne - and puts them each to the test in the most challenging cases of their careers.

Short but sweet!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

While this is a good collection of short mysteries, many of which have been dramatized for television quite successfully, I miss the more leisurely read of the longer Agatha Christie works.

The colorful worlds and characters she invites us into are too quickly gone leaving me feeling less satisfied at the end than I have been with others of her stories. Don't get me wrong, she still has the knack of writing a compelling short story but I guess I was left wanting more at the end of these.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Perhaps the best use of this book would be for someone looking for a short but fun diversion whilst on short car trips or for someone wanting a little "bedtime story". If that is your goal then you will most likely thoroughly enjoy these little peeks in to Agatha's creative mind.

The Two Stories

Only bought this audiobook for two stories...The Baghdad Chest & In a Glass Darkly. Already owned the other stories in this collection, and they're all great little shorts with fantastic narration. Therefore this review only concerns the two aforementioned stories.
The biggest dissapointment in a long time.
While the stories are great, the narrator is possibly one of the worst I have ever experienced. Sounded like it was the same guy who did both stories, I assume it's Simon Vance. His portrayal of Hercule Poirot is definitely the worst I have heard to date, and it made me despise the story. In general he is a chore to listen to, and ruins both stories.
If you are thinking of buying this for the same reason as me, do NOT do it...it is a waste of money.
In a sidenote: In the description it is stated that Isla Blair is one of the narrators, but I found no trace of her voice anywhere in this collection.

wonderful stories, but told elsewhere

This book has great stories, but they are all taken from other books of short stories you can buy through Audible - worth a listen if you don't have the other books.

Interesting Collection of Short Stories

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

This is a collection of 8 short stories, with different narrators. I always enjoy listening to Hugh Fraser and Joan Hickson narrate books. Featured characters are Mr. Parker Pine, Hercule Poirot and the ever lovely Miss Marple. Overall, an enjoyable listen.

Wonderful as usual.

Mind boggling and entertaining as usual. I love the way she wrote - murder without all the violence. Just the solving of the mystery.
