I couldn't stop listening the book.

Loved it. I loved how the main character became a lot like her friend. I felt so bad for Rex the entire book.

The most important character is unconvincing

The story is good. It has element of Barbara Vine, concentrating on the bohemian life of young people on the edge of society in London.

But.... we are supposed to love and root for one of the major female characters. And I didn't. She was just annoying, flirtatious, and shallow. Needed a full re-write to fix that person.

Editor needed

It took to chapter 22 for anything to really start happening. Fairly boring up until then. A lot should have been edited out.

Get Ready For A Great Listen

I loved this book. Told in the first person by Karen the story reveals how mistakes made in youth can come back to haunt you with dire consequences. The narrator, Jennifer Ikeda, did a great job with the English accent and only a few words led me to believe she wasn't English herself. I looked her up and found she is American. Still an excellent job done with a brilliant story. Just bought Erin Kelly's He Said- She Said because I enjoyed The Poison Tree so much.

A little bizarre, but a captivating mystery.

Level-headed, genius scholar meets "Cray cray narcissistic little rich girl" and together they embark upon an unforgettable, intoxicating summer.

A Unique and Great Read

I started this book last year and couldn’t finish it due to the bad fake British accent.
It was a full stop for me at the time.
However, I found the backbone of the story compelling and creative so I decided to give it a second attempt.
I’m happy to say that this actually turned out to be a very interesting listen.
The characters are truly and totally fleshed out, the scenes are set with a great deal of detail, and the premise is believable, strange, and engaging.
I actually loved these characters and found myself not wanting the story to end.
Just be patient, it gets better (both the story and the accent improve given some time)
Certainly worth a credit.
She’s written some phenomenal books, He Said/She Said, Broadchurch, and more.
Give this one a shot, you won’t regret it.

Ugh--wasted hours blah blah blah

Not worth a credit. Takes forever to get going and I've got 4 hours left. I never leave a book unfinished but I'll be deleting from device

Yawn!

This was extremely tedious. The character development was good, but the story went nowhere while the author played the game of teasing out the fairly uninspired mystery until the last chapters of the story. I do not recommend this book.
