Publisher's Summary

Lauren Robinson knows exactly what it takes to be the perfect mistress. She had a front-row seat when she tagged along with her father on all of his extramarital trysts. She loved keeping Daddy's special secrets, but many family members, especially her mother, consider her an accomplice in helping break up their family. This emotional distance and Lauren's early dating experiences lead her to date married men.

That is until Dr. Matthew King enters the scene, and when Matthew proposes marriage, Lauren happily accepts. But as their very public engagement makes the news, someone is intent on sabotaging their relationship. Someone who watched her own marriage destroyed by Lauren and won't be happy until she gives Lauren a taste of her own medicine.

Perfect depiction of a life lesson

I liked many things about the book. The characters were realistic, the story was easy to follow but not simplistic, the story was unpredictable, and, most of all, the story was an excellent depiction of the natural law, biblical principle, spiritual principle (whichever one prefers to call it) that you reap what you sow, what you put out comes back to you, what goes around comes around (however one prefers to articulate it). Also, the narrator was excellent (which is not usually the case with Ms. Billingsley's audiobooks). The only thing I did not like about the book is that although I understood the main characters and what caused them to become who they were, I did not like any of them. I would recommend this book to readers/listeners who like realistic, scandalous stories that reinforce life lessons.

Okay book with great moments

The book was ok, started to get predictable. Figured out who the antagonist was pretty early. Lacks character development for ALL of the characters. Overall it was ok.

Overall not bad.

The reader made this book worth listening too. The story seemed a bit repetitive at some points. The characters were not developed fully both visually and emotionally.

Easy listening

This is good beach reading. It drags around the middle, but overall I enjoyed it. I'm a bigger fan of Kimberla Lawson Roby, though.

Another great read

This book was awesome right from the beginning. Never a dull moment. I didn't like the way the mother died, but I was glad to see Lauren get her happily ever after!!

HATED IT/SPOILER ALERT

I loathe this story so much. Why did this author feel the need to give this character ( Lauren)a Selfish, deceitful, unloyal, disrespectful, despicable person a happy ending?😡 I can understand when she was young, and the first time the secret was kept. But not when she became older. Best believe, if one of my parent's had EVER did anything close to that, and i knew, they would know. And to go along with them to their side piece house and hangout, oh Hell No. She told her mother, she wasn't there for her, and always in the bed, Dauh, with what her mother had to deal with, marriage, loss of baby, and both parents, that when she really should have stepped up and took care of her mother, instead of going Hoe hopping around with that father of hers. And Joyce's parents, unbelievable, My father, let alone mother would tell me to accept that behavior, and go on back home. And Lauren character gets a happy ending?! Wow. Even though the story was awful, the narrator did a good job!😏
