Snowflakes in the Wind is a heartwarming story of triumph over adversity by Rita Bradshaw, author of the number one best-selling Dancing in the Moonlight. It's Christmas Eve 1920 when nine-year-old Abby Kirby's family is ripped apart by a terrible tragedy. Leaving everything she's ever known, Abby takes her younger brother and runs away to the tough existence of the border farming community.
A stranger enters the inner sanctum of the Ashby family posing as Patrick Ashby, the heir to the family’s sizeable fortune. The stranger, Brat Farrar, has been carefully coached on Patrick’s mannerisms, appearance and every significant detail of Patrick’s early life, up to his 13th year when he disappeared and was thought to have drowned himself.
The first of Josephine Tey's Inspector Grant mysteries concerns the murder of a man, standing in a ticket queue for a London musical comedy. With his customary tenacity, Grant pursues his suspects through the length of Britain and the labyrinth of the city.
Clare Hanrahan has nothing left to lose the day she stumbles into Lew Earnshaw’s arms. Her family is gone and her own life hangs by a thread after a desperate season seeking work. By the time Lew and his kindly neighbours have nursed Clare back to health, he is hopelessly in love with the frail Irish girl. But though she will always care for Lew, another man comes between them. Martin Heywood could not be more different from the gentle, idealistic weaver.
Tempestuous Briar Macauley's single-minded stubbornness to prove to the world that she is the equal to any man leads her into so many disastrous circumstances that her parents despair of ever making a lady of her. Encouraged by her equally disreputable friends, the only man who can stand up to her untamed spirit is Will Lucas of Browhead Farm whose temper matches her own.
When Lily Elliott's father dies she loses everything - not just a beloved protector and his wonderful ship the Lily-Jane, but also the way of life she has always known. As her mother sinks into a dream-world and the money which had always seemed sufficient turns out to have been mostly debts, Lily watches, bewildered, as destitution comes ever closer for the Elliott women and their loyal housekeeper. Then two rescuers appear.

It is the beginning of a long journey for Amy, as she desperately searches for the family she lost, and a home where she can be free at last from her aunt's possessive tyranny.
But she will have to endure a forced marriage and a tragic war before she can at last find what she seeks.
This is by far one of my favorite stories ever! Any woman alive will appreciate the challenges & triumphs of Amy. Be ready to cry, rage, rejoice, and live the thrill of the redemption of true love.

I was captivated within the first ten minutes. Very well drawn characters, beautifully written. The flavour of the period was well drawn and the actress who reads the audio is just magnificent. Her voice resonates with emotion and she creates the sense of a play with her different accents and voices.

The story was captivating, one of my favorite books ever. I highly recommend this book. It's a bit long but the story continued to move forward and hold my attention. This is the third book I've listened to read by Carole Boyd and I really enjoy her performances. Bravo!
From the beginning, the narrator captures your ear, and the characters capture your heart. Get ready to not put this one down until you have heard the last word. The story has all the ingredients - and, as all of my books must, ends happily ever after. I cannot say that there were not some very painful moments, but Audrey Howard does a beautiful job of showcasing the spirit of love, grace, mercy, and perseverance.
i did enjoy this book, but found that after initial great enjoyment the book descended into somewhat hackneyed characters and plots. It was all a bit too perfect with an 'all's well that ends well' plot and somewhat unrounded characters.
