A tragic accident. A mother in mourning. Can a second chance rise from the wreckage?

Marlee Foster’s life was just getting started. She couldn’t wait for the return of her husband from deployment. After all, he’d be there just in time for the birth of their daughter. The welcome home party is full of joy, but on the way home, tragedy strikes…

When Marlee loses her husband and daughter, her friends and family do their best to heal her broken heart. But painful reminders of a future she’ll never see haunt her every day in the small town. Her only hope at a second chance is to leave it all behind…

As she sets out on a soul-searching adventure, the mourning widow wonders if the wilderness will give her hope for a brighter future or if she’ll forever be chained to a devastating past. During her journey, Marlee is about to learn that love has a funny way of coming back to those who need it the most…

The Flight of Hope is a heart-wrenching contemporary romance in the vein of Nicholas Sparks. If you like emotional journeys, strong-willed heroines, and second chance romances, then you’ll love HJ Bellus’ touching tale.

Don't forget the tissues.

Ugly cry doesn't even begin to describe how emotional this book is. My heart broke for Marlee as she struggled to cope with the loss of Bentley and Hope. The raw pain she felt after the accident bled through HJ Bellus's words. I listened to this audiobook while at work and I could feel every ounce of emotion through Lacy Laurel's wonderful narration. Lacy did an amazing job at narrating Marlee's story and giving each of these lovable characters their own unique sound. I had to wait a few days after finishing this audiobook before writing my review to digest my feelings towards this book and I've come to a conclusion. This story is heartfelt and real. It made me laugh and more times than I could count. Simply put, this story is absolutely magnificent.

beautifully sad

This story broke my heart so many times, and I've ugly cried buckets while I listened to it. Life is never fair; good or bad. A myriad of emotions I experienced in a short span. I don't know how the author wrote this through the waterfall of tears she must have had. Kudos! I found it amazing that Marlee wasn't bitter. I would have been. Now that I've had a soul cleansing cry I'm going to sleep it all off. I'm dead!! I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job.

So Emotional

If you don't like spoilers Then don't read past the third paragraph of this review.

This book broke my heart put it back together then broke it again! The story is so very emotional it drew me in and gripped me. I just had to keep listening I just had to go on Marlee's journey with her.

Marlee (Birdy) to her family has always been spoilt, not in a nasty way, she was just so very loved by her parents, her grandfather and her best friend Bentley, she got everything she wanted, Bentley Foster being what she wanted most of all. From childhood they were best friends, they knew they would be together. The one thing they both wanted more than anything else was to have a child and after trying for long time Marlee becomes pregnant her world is complete, the only thing she needs now is for Bentley to come home from his deployment. Before she can tell him he is severely injured, he lives and comes home to recover.

Then Marlee's world is shattered, she not only loses Bentley but she loses Hope her unborn child. How can she survive? How can life go on without the other half of herself?

At this point in the story I was so upset, the writing style of H J Bellus, a new author for me was so good it pulled at my heartstrings I was hooked from the opening lines and I fell in love with Bentley, he and Birdy were so perfect together. I absolutely adored their wedding and their vow renewal. Add to this the beautiful narration by Lacy Laurel and I couldn't stop crying.

A heartbroken Marlee leaves behind her loving family and with only Guy, her dog, goes away and dives into a bottle she can't face life without Bentley. Then in the way life has of throwing the unexpected at you she meets Jed, he is a country singing star, he's a single father to Fender, an adorable little boy who is his world. Jed is home staying with his twin brother Cody and his parents at a town in a remote area where Marley is staying. He and Marlee meet and slowly Jed's friendship pulls Marlee out of the bottle and back into the world of the living.

Their relationship deepens Jed tells Marlee that he has cancer and is going to have treatment. He doesn't know if it will work but he wants Marlee to be part of whatever life he has. I cried again but then I was happy, Jed and Marlee build a beautiful life together only to loose it all.

To say this book is an emotional rollercoaster is an understatement. It is so beautifully written and even though I cried so much it hurt and left me feeling drained I just couldn't stop listening to this wonderfully moving story.

Emotional Roller Coaster

HJ Bellus is a great writer! This story was absolutely beautiful and super romantic. I fell in love with these characters and wanted to know how everything would turn out from the beginning. I was so heartbroken in parts due to things being extremely sad, but it was worth the emotional roller coaster! The characters and plot are written excellently. I would highly recommend and I will certainly read more by Bellus in the future! I give it a 5/5!

Laurel is also a great narrator. She pairs well with this novel. Her character expressions are different and interesting. I was able to figure out who was speaking and not get confused. She also has great expression in her voice. I could honestly picture the characters better than if I had read this by listening to her. Audio was clear as well! I give it a 5/5!

More than a tear jerker!

So I’ve been hearing about The Flight of Hope and knew it was going to be a book that would tear me up. Ha! This book was more than I expected, I’m not sure anyone can prepare themselves for the heartbreak that this book will give you. It’s nearly beyond an ugly cry book!! Birdie, or Marlee, had the perfect life. If we could go through and pick someone’s life, I would choose hers. She had the love of her family and the love of her man, Bently. Everyone had Birdie on a pedestal. She was happy, they were happy, life was happy. It doesn’t stay though. I can’t get into this book again; I can’t handle falling apart again.

H.J. Bellus wrote the most amazing book! It has everything you want in a tear jerker! Bellus wrote an emotional story that will suck you in. You won’t be able to read this book and just go to the next. You are going to have to think on it… think on Birdie and her life. It’s an ultra book hanger!! I do not have the words to properly say how amazing this story is! Bellus writes this breath-taking story. It will make you think about life, it will make you value all those little moments in life that make you really feel alive.

Lacy Laurel was a magnificent narrator! I’ve never heard someone capture the emotions of her characters as well as Laurel did in this book. It was emotional and captivating, and Laurel’s performance was spot on! I’m not sure I’ve ever cried as much through a book as I have with this on, and I’ve read a ton of Nicolas Sparks (King of the tear jerkers!!). If you want to feel like you are a part of this story, I can’t recommend the audio more!

This book...... lifted me high slammed me hard, lifting me again even higher to drop kick my heart again... all in a good way! It’s a tear jerker, with all the jokes throughout to make you choke on your snotty sobs. Lol
And Lacy Laurel does an amazing job with all the voices and accents.

Great Read

The Flight of Hope was a great read by H.J. Bellus. Marlee had everything that she ever wanted; she was married to her best friend and was expecting their daughter. He returned from deployment and they were about to welcome their daughter when tragedy struck on their way home from a welcome home party. Marlee lost her husband and daughter in one moment. She tried to heal her broken heart at home but needed to go on an adventure to find herself again. Little did she know that love has a funny way of showing back up when you least expect it. She met Jed and although she didn’t want to find love, she knew that is what she had with Jed. I loved Marlee and Jed’s story even though it ripped my heart out. I can’t wait to read more by H.J. Bellus. Lacy Laurel did an amazing job narrating the book and making you fall in love with the characters. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Listen to the signs! and have tissues!!!

I am so glad I listened to this wonderfully amazing audiobook. It pulled on my heartstrings from the beginning. After losing her whole hearts in an awful accident, Marlee is able to find love again. She just had to follow the signs her first love was sending her from above. not many can say they have had true love twice. Bentley was her first true love but Jed was her final true love. they fell in love when they both most needed it. what an amazing life they had. The narration was perfect! This is a must listen to in my opinion!!!
