Publisher's Summary

The third audiobook in Robert Kirkman's New York Times bestselling series, The Walking Dead: The Fall of the Governor!

The Walking Dead original novel series, set in the universe of Robert Kirkman's iconic universe, continues with The Fall of the Governor. From co-authors Kirkman, creator of the Eisner Award-winning comic book and executive producer of AMC's blockbuster TV series, and Jay Bonansinga, Stoker Award-finalist and internationally acclaimed author, comes the gripping third novel in this richly woven, literary saga, which began with The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor.

In Rise of the Governor, uber-villain Philip Blake journeyed from his humble beginnings directly into the dark heart of the zombie apocalypse, and became the self-proclaimed leader of a small town called Woodbury. In The Road to Woodbury, an innocent traveler named Lilly Caul wound up in the terrifying thrall of Phillip Blake's twisted, violent dictatorship within Woodbury's ever tightening barricades.

And now, in The Fall of the Governor, the Governor's complex story continues in a tour de force of action and horror. Iconic characters from the comic book, including Rick, Michonne and Glenn, finally make their entrance onto this nightmarish stage, and fans of The Walking Dead will see these characters in a whole new light.

Would you listen to The Fall of the Governor again? Why?

Yes, the reader narrator is so good, easy to listen to and creates a mental picture of story and each character.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The Governor he is so rotten!

What about Fred Berman’s performance did you like?

very descriptive and precise on each character!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Austin and Lilly's first love tryst

Any additional comments?

Love the AMC Walking Dead version and the Novel version both excellent!

Outstanding.

Any additional comments?

I have the hardcover editions of all of the 'graphic novels' and the novels in this series. I have all of the TV episodes on DVD. WELL DONE, I have to say, I wasn't sure if Kirkman and Co. could deliver without pictures and/or video. I was very pleasantly surprised. It requires real talent to pull off the zombie genre without pictures (or video). They certainly have it.

Fred does it again!

What did you like best about this story?

The more morbid detail to the torchure Michone leaves on Phillip Blake before leaving Woodbury.

Have you listened to any of Fred Berman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Fred does a great job with this book series and does a awesome job with book 3. I hope they continue to use him for the remainder of this series.

Any additional comments?

As for the book itself, yes predictable if you read the comics but, I like seeing it from other characters within the story and not just from Rick and his crew.

Part One?

Do you think The Fall of the Governor needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yeah. Part TWO.

Any additional comments?

Story was great. Played flawlessly on my phone. But it would be nice if it said "Part One" in bigger letters...or "Book 3, Part 1" would've been nice. Not feeling ripped off. Just not happy about having to pay for Part 2.

Warning: Not the Complete Finale

If you look closely, on the cover, under the title, is a little hard to see section that says "PART ONE"

So, despite what you may read in the product description, this is not the finale, but half of the finale. I have no idea when part 2 will come out.

The story was good, and the narration solid, but overall I felt the packaging was deceptive and the story incomplete.

Will be returning this one

This book was so over the top with its description of the torture scenes especially in the end that I had to stop listening.
Not enjoyable.

Bloody awesome

If it wasn't for the last quarter of this book it would've been a two star review but Michonne came in to save the day. Would've loved to see this played out in the series. That was some Wu Tang torture chamber level stuff.

Really good start to the finale

Can't wait to listen to part 2 of the fall. Not really in a head space to say much till I hear it all the way out. It was again excellently written and narrated.

Another brilliant instalment to keep me going on between series. I think I'm gonna move onto the comics next.

The fall of the Governor

Really enjoyed this. I'm a big fan of Kirkman and have been reading The Walking Dead comics for quite some time. That said I was really excited when I discovered that a set of novels had been written about the series most loved/hated bad guy, the Governor.
The Fall of the Governor covers the events from the comics but from the perspective of the residents of Woodbury rather than Rick and his group. It was really interesting to get a peek into the thoughts of the Governor.
I'm looking forward to finding out what happens next as told from the people outside the prison!

Long time in the coming but worth the wait.

I counted down the days until this little baby was released on audio book, and I wasn't disappointed.

Very brutal, but totalling compelling.

Enjoyable read

A little disappointed with the lack of hardcore zombie action which prevents the extra star. However, I enjoyed getting a little more from Woodbury than the TV series and comics show. Very gruesome moments too. Looking forward to reading the next book!

Better to read it. Probably.

Hmmm. I can't decide whether or not this is badly written or badly narrated. I've actually read this novel before, had forgotten all about it. Hearing it this time around, there are genuinely times where I found myself muttering in disapproval. One chapter has a character repeatedly cursing the same line over and over and I had enough. It even at times makes sympathetic characters seem annoying and obtuse. So I guess it's probably the former who cops the blame. That said, the narrators choice to voice each individual character is a poor one, particularly female parts.

I've starting listening to books to suit my lifestyle but honestly, this really does grate your nerves at times. It does clear up something from the comics I was confused about, and when no one is talking it's enjoyable enough, but overall I would give it a pass.

The best in the series so far

Rick Glenn Michone thrown into the world of the crazy governor. Really good insight into the madman as well. The best one so far.
