Twisty storries

I liked the short novelles. All a bit different, all a bit same, they make you think, they make you feel. Sad that it is short

Worth each and every penny

Science fiction with a heaping spoonful of irony.and darkness.

Wow. Not long enough. I could listen to these stories all day. Definitely a great nod to the old TZ stories, with amazing twists and turns. You really have no idea where any of the stories are heading until you're rounding the last bend.

Great job Andy, but you screwed up. Now we need more. Get crackin', Weir.

Short and Fun Twists

Just a fun collection of short stories. Most have a twist that I enjoyed. Go into it knowing you are having a quick adventure without a lot of detail and it is well worth the time. I found myself wishing there was more stories.

Great short stories!

This book has some great unexpected short stories, very Andy Weir style. If you loved his other books, you will love this one. Only downside is it's too short, but hey can't ask more of a "Short Stories" Compilation haha.

Big Things in Small Packages

There are some highly effective short pieces here; very thought-provoking and whimsical. I appreciated the ones with twist endings, and the Twilight Zone tribute was the highlight of the collection.

Significantly Better Than The Martian!

When I picked this up, my only thought was, "I hope this is close to as good as The Martian." It became obvious almost instantly that it was better.

I quickly came to really like the young, feisty female anti-hero that is the main character. Also Weir did a superb job of world building for his semi-futuristic moon community. There were some similarities to Kristine Kathryn Rusch's work, but that is only to the good. The hard science aspect of the book is a strength, although it is less overbearing than in The Martian.

The only downside is that toward the climax of the story, the main character goes a little too far and may become too unsympathetic to a portion of readers. I was a bit turned-off, but not so much that I didn't thoroughly enjoy the ending. If there is any area that could have been improved, it would be the large element of chance toward the story's end. One can only hope that Weir will turn this into a series.

Lastly, let me talk about the wonderful narration. Rosario Dawson is now my favorite female, American narrator, and my Audio book total is >1000.

What A Twist

A real gem, quite enjoyable.

It's understandable why Popular Science named Any Weir one of the Top Science Fiction Writers in 2015. =)

Review

Good but not enough content for a whole credit. Hail Mary was fabulous though. Even better than The Martian.
