Publisher's summary

Rick Yancey’s first gothic suspense tale, The Monstrumologist, earned him a prestigious Michael L. Printz Award. The second installment of this acclaimed series, Curse of the Wendigo, finds young Will Henry on the hunt for a supernatural beast plaguing New England in the late 1800s. Will and his mentor, the domineering Dr. Warthrop, are enlisted to help the doctor’s former fiancée. It seems her husband has been lost in the Canadian wilderness. And to make matters worse, there are reports that a Wendigo—a creature who gorges on human flesh—is on the loose.

Very fun series! Great narration!

This was just as fun to listen to as the first one,if not even better. I will definitely be listening to the third!

not sure if it was me or the book

it was a good book, with a nice story. I just had a hard time wanting to keep listening, might have been more the characters being so drawn out. or that I didn't have my normal time to listen to it as much as I normally do.I think judging by the title I was expecting more than what it was, if I had to put my finger on something.

My favorite

I narration of the book is delivered so well that you are immediately intransanced by the descriptive story and plot. The detailed that are given in Yancey's writing a meticulous.
I love this book.

Good but not Great

The continued adventures of William Henry and Dr Pellanore Warthrop provide satisfying horror interspersed with frequent moments of frustration.

The good Doctor displays very little evolution from the previous volume and consistantly makes poor decicions that seem only to serve the forward momentum of the plot. I'll keep listening in hopes that thee next novel provides a little more believable character motivation.

Although this series is advertised as novels for young readers, the language and graphic gore leave me wondering why the publishers thought this was appropriate for young audiences...

excellence

This is Book 2 of the Monstrumologist Series. It is fantastic. The narration is superior to most audiobooks. The story perfectly continues the series, the characters mature and new characters do not disappoint. Although this series is a dark one and it has plenty of violence and gore, it is incredibly interesting and a lot of fun to listen to.

Narrator rocks

I have trouble hearing, so naturally a lot of narrators are difficult for me to understand. This guy’s voice is super clear and the detail he adds to each character’s voice is just a bonus.

Another fantastic entry

Another great entry in to the Monstrumologist series. This particular entry dives more in to the characters, rather than the creature? They face. If your main attraction to the first novel was the creature feature, you may find this book a bit of a slog.

Unbelievably visualizing

With how the story is told it feels like I'm part of the action. Like I'm standing side by side with Warthrop and Will, I love all the monsters told in this series and look forward to even more gory monsters and their riddles to be told!

Somewhat entertaining

Had some strong points but was never gripping, with the two main characters both being frustrating at times for different reasons. Ultimately held no surprises or satisfying ending.
