Publisher's summary

It was a name that caused the most hardened gunmen to break out in a cold sweat: Texas Ranger Chick Bowdrie. Pursuing the most wanted men in the Southwest, he knew all too well the dusty trails, the bitter cattle feuds, the desperate killers, and the quiet, weather-beaten towns that could explode into mayhem with the wrong word. He had sworn to carry out the law, but there were times when he had to apply justice with his fists and his guns. They called in the Rangers to handle the tough ones, and there was never a Ranger tougher or smarter than Bowdrie. Join Chick Bowdrie in six classic western adventures from America's favorite storytellers, brought to life in vivid audio dramatizations.

The way the west really was

I truly enjoyed this book. The dramatization was excellent and the bonus discussion by Louis L'Amour make this a worthwhile addition to your audiobook library.

Entertaining!

Some interesting stories, but I found the Dramatizations distracting. I love Louis L'Amour westerns, but prefer them without sound effects.

"A Trail To The West" begins with a narration by Louis L'Amour about his research and personal experiences...then goes into the story about a girls kidnapping.

The last story, "Bowdrie Follows A Cold Trail" was my favorite of the 6 stories.

If you like westerns you'll love it

I very much like the Bowdrie stories. This collection has many of the best tales and is worth listening to more than once. I only wish I could get Volume 2 if there is one.

One the best bowdrie stories

This story has all of the action, romance and clever, unpredictable story writing that Louis L'Amour is best known for.

Brought back memories

It was nice to be able to listen to Louis L’Amour’s Collected Bowdrie Dramatizations. I had read the print versions I “Bowdrie” and “Bowdrie’s Law” when I was a young girl. It’s nice to have this collection and I recommend this to all fans of the Western genre.

How can you go wrong with Louis Lamour?

Great stories! You have a strong, courageous, tenacious, principled, and good hero catching the bad guys and helping the downtrodden. Who doesn't like this kind of story. Great for adults and children.

Excellent!

Digitized version of the original 1980's story tapes! These are just as good as I remembered!

great stories full of excitement and drama

Bowdrie keeps to himself but is really following leads, very politely and watching. sees everything and finds out much of what is happening o er time.
