A solid start to a potentially fun series

A monster hunting haggard ex-priest trying to kill demons and save his sister and a town, what doesn't sound entertaining about that? It is a fun and fairly tightly paced story, that opens up for a series of other interesting adventures. I thought the narration by John H. Fehskens was solid, and he did a good job with all of his characters.

I haven't read any of the other versions of this book, but it seems this is a further edited one or slightly changed. It plays out well and is definitely for those that like a roving monster hunter of a fan of Supernatural. I am looking forward to the second book.

Good story

A demon hunting ex-priest and a coroner make for an interesting team to battle the supernatural. Miscarriages and S.I.D.S. cases bring the duo together to investigate and rid the trouble from Bucktown. The characters are likable and interesting. I was impressed with the author’s knowledge of HIPAA. Not to many fiction authors think to add modern day healthcare compliance and privacy requirements to their stories! The storyline and descriptions were good. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

nice story with some demons and supernatural stuff

Since the sub-title has the word supernatural and the whole story sounds like it could be an episode of Supernatural, I'll assume the author likes that show. This is a good demon story and it's written well. I liked the length, allowed me to get it and move on, though I wouldn't get upset if the author created more in this series.
All in all, a fun book.

short but great

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This book was really good. I really liked the premise, the characters, and the narration. My biggest complaint was that it was so short. I hope the next books are at least full-length novels. The story reminds me of the short-lived show Constantine that had a fallen priest battling demons but blended with Supernatural.

All-in-all, it was a great book and I'll look for more from this author and narrator.

A good start to an interesting series

I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This was a solid demonic story. I really like the premise of a priest on a mission to clear the world of evil.
I had one issue with the priest as his mouth was pretty dirty considered he once was a priest. I’d like to believe he would swear so much after serving God at one time. Otherwise he was a likable character.
The mystery in this story was a bit predictable and I had a hard time with the part where they convince a pregnant girl to be the demon bait. But it is a horror story after all ...

Great Start of a Supernatural Series

Love the characters of Father Johann Gunter (ex-priest and demon hunter) and Robert (a pathologist) as well as his ½ brother Father Tuttle. Father Gunter head to small town of Bucktown as he feels all of the miscarriages and SIDs are due to a demon that also has his sister Theresa and wants to save them. There are ghosts, demons, action and likeable characters similar style of Ron Ripley books. Cannot wait for 2nd book of Ravens Do Not Fly at Night as Gunter and Robert continue on the adventures. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys the paranormal/supernatural. This book was given to me by author and I provided this voluntary review. THANK YOU!

So many errors!

Just a little bit of research would have save this book from mediocrity. This writer apparently has never watched bones or any of similar dramas – a corner is not the same thing as a medical examiner! If two people are talking, they’re talking between themselves not among themselves. I could go on and on with all of the errors like “he leered down the alley“ when he was looking for the muscle car. Learing, connotes some kind of sexual or otherwise unwanted attention. Did she mean “peering“? On and on and on. Wrong verbs are used, we have a former priest who uses profanity especially “GD“; against so many errors it’s hard to pay attention to the story. Somethings are done very well but for this reader, the errors overshadow everything else. From the beginning this was very difficult to not delete from my phone. I don’t think I’ll continue this series.
