Publisher's Summary

John Finney is in trouble. The kidnapper locked him in a basement, a place stained with the blood of half a dozen murdered children. With him in his subterranean cell is an antique phone, long since disconnected...but which rings at night, anyway, with calls from the dead.

Critic Reviews

"Most of the stories display the unself-conscious dash that made Hill's novel an intelligent pleasure....Not just for ghost addicts." ( Kirkus Reviews)

Awesome!!!

"The Black Phone" is more straightforward horror, but nonetheless absolutely great.

Made me cringe

The kidnapping of a youngster by a pedophile reflects real life, unfortunately. The suspense of waiting to see if the boy will survive is at times too much to bear. This is a dark, dark story with a supernatural aspect that is fascinating. The ending is "happy" but the story is a downer.
