Publisher's summary

It's not easy for a young gay artist like Jordan Carson to grow up in Jefferson, Wisconsin, where all anyone seems to care about in middle school and high school are the sports teams. But Jordan was lucky. He met Owen Nelson in the second grade, and they've been BFFs ever since. Owen is a big, beautiful blond and their school's champion wrestler. No one messes with Owen, or with anyone close to him, and he bucks popular opinion by keeping Jordan as his wingman even after Jordan comes out at school.

Their friendship survives, but Jordan's worst enemy may be himself: he can't seem to help the fact that he is head-over-heels in love with a hopeless case - his straight friend, Owen. Owen won't let anything take Jordan's friendship away, but he never counted on Jordan running off to find a life of his own. Owen will have to face the nature of their relationship if he's to win Jordan back.

Cute story. Lovable characters

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it is a quick and sweet story. It borders on young adult to new adult.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved Jordan and Owen, both!

What does Tristan Wright bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His voice was perfect for the age of the guys.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, it is short enough to listen to

Any additional comments?

This is my first book narrated by Tristan Wright. He was great, except it his voice did not waver at all between characters. His switch in POV was difficult at times. He would state Owen or Jordan's name, and if you were not listening closely, you could miss it. He was seamless in his transition which made it difficult to figure out if he was still reading or switching between characters. His voice was perfect for this age group and I would give him a "try" again.

Great YA story

Loved this story. Not as much as Blame It On The Mistletoe but it's a close second. I highly recommend.

Short and sweet

If you could sum up Superhero in three words, what would they be?

Charming and adorable.

What other book might you compare Superhero to and why?

Rainbow High, and not just for the obvious high school affiliation, but for the coming of age story told so well in both.

Any additional comments?

This is my first audio book with Tristan Wright as narrator and he is spectacular! I will be looking (and hoping) for him as narrator in all my future audiobooks.

Pinned for life...

Narrator 3.5 stars

I think other narrators spoil me when they are able to differentiate their character voices. This narrator was not bad but everyone pretty much sounded the same. I'm just glad he had emotional range. Not everyone can pull that off too.

4.25 stars

Owen and Jordan have been best friends since the second grade.
Jordan has been in love with Owen since the sixth grade.
Owen has known since then that Jordan is Gay but it has never stopped him from being Jordan's best friend.
In high school Owen is a big shot wrestler and Jordan an artist.
Jordan comes out in the eleventh grade.
Owen never falters in his support of Jordan.
Although, Owen tries to resist and ignore his feelings toward Jordan the thought of losing him forever changes things for him.
Can he have Jordan and his wrestling career?

Love this story. Best friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes. These two have always had a spark going on. Owen was the one fighting it. When he decides to stop fighting the spark turns into a flame. They were always meant to be with one another. 💜

Good story, but need editing

The story was short but captivating and sweet. The production is lacking however. Sometimes the same line is read twice.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

ok, so I'm still pretty teary eyed writing my review. I will keep it simple. There were times it felt like my heart was broken. And times so sweet it was ridiculous. Basically, it touched me deeply. can't ask for more from a book.

5 stars for best friends to lovers

Superhero had such a perfect ending, I cried through the whole epilogue. This was a wonderful short story about the bond between two best friends, wrestling, unrequited love, coming out, bullying and how you should never make assumptions (never judge a book by its cover). The banter between Owen and Jordan was very clever. I would happily read more books with main characters like them.

Completely Adorable!

Totally adorable. And the narrator, Tristan Wright, was perfect for this one. I would have loved the story to continue and include their first few years at college - esp after the epilogue got me all curious - but it was very, very enjoyable.
