This is a story about the transforming power of our dreams and the goodness of listening to our hearts.

The Alchemist is the most enchanting novel by Paulo Coelho. He has written a bunch of fine titles but this one takes the cake as the most unique and interesting book in his repertoire. The story is about a shepherd named Santiago who travels from Spain to the Egyptian desert in hopes of finding a buried treasure within the pyramids. His rash journey starts there, and during his journey, he meets several interesting characters like a gypsy woman, a man who calls himself “king”, and an alchemist. All of them are key fragments that will aid Santiago complete his journey.

(Note: This summary is wholly written and published by Abbey Beathan. It is not affiliated with the original author in any way)

“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” - Paulo Coelho

Santiago doesn’t know if he will ever find the treasure, or if he’ll fail to overcome all the obstacles that lie in front of him. But it doesn’t matter, to be on the hunt for this treasure was his destiny, and what started out as a treasure hunt for worldly goods soon turns into a search for all the goodness within him.

Paulo Coelho gives us a fascinating novel that will make us take a deep look within us to find all of the good things we are capable of offering.

Life concepts worthy of consideration

This isn't just a story about a shepherd boy. It's a story about YOU and ME and every human who has the desire to search for meaning in our lives. The simple story-telling style and great adventure makes this a fast read and east to digest. Loved it! I thank my father, who has tried to get me to read this for 20 years. I finally got the message when, after his death, a dear friend recommended it.Must listen.

I wish I could give it 6 STARS

I had to listen this book for a college class, but I really fell in love with it. I would recommend anyone and everyone to listen it. The author is a real star when it comes to writing. This book made me want to pack up and travel all around the world to live out my own journey. This is seriously one of the best books I have listen in my life.

I instantly liked it

This is one of those classic books you can listen over and over again, and the author betrays a message that has the power to really help change a persons mindset towards his faith, spirituality, and ability to navigate throughout life. The book is inspirational because the Author did not sell well for an entire year but he really believed in his book and stuck with it instead of giving up hope. He truly embodies his own message and the book is not overly complicated to read.

This is another book I really enjoyed that centered around having faith in yourself

A simple little tale with so much depth

I found this story to be so simply beautiful. Inspiring me to see my own dreams in a different light. I give it away to graduation students from time to time. On the chance that they might read it, they may be further motivated to continue to work to achieve what may right now seem out of reach and unattainable.

Best book of the year for me

The Alchemist spoke to me deeply. It's another of a handful of books I wish I had listen right out of high school.
Abbey Beathan's writing style is very direct. If you let your mind wander for a few sentences, you probably will miss a major plot point. This makes it a very fast and exciting read but things happen so quickly, I found myself stopping to reflect often (not a bad thing). :)

worth purchase!

I love this audible book. It is a short, easy listen brimming with life lessons. The main character of this book can easily be replaced by any one of us and his life circumstances switched with ours and the lesson is still the same. We all have treasure waiting for us but along the way there are snags and hold-ups but are all perfectly necessary for our journey. I shared this book with my college aged nephew. I intend to give him a new copy every five years so he can see how much more he will understand about life as he grows older.

Brilliant!

I understand now why this audible book is a classic, a favorite to so many, and he is the most translated author of all time. This is literally the best piece of literature to graze my fingertips that I have to ask myself incessantly, why the hell did it take me so long to listen it?!
But I bought the book so I can listen it again and again, and I feel like each time I read it I will take away something else.
I had so many emotions with this book, though none bad. The teachings in it were awe-inspiring. Quotes like, 'Where your treasure is, there will also be your heart' are going to resonate through me for the rest of my life, I bet.
Look, I'm not going to tell you about the book. I will tell you that if you haven't read it, you really should. It's frigging amazeballs on so many levels.
I can't wait to listen more from this author!
