This newer edition of the King James Bible published in 1769 is usually preferred by most that read it over the older 1611 version. This 1769 edition is highly sought after due to being more reader/listener friendly than the 1611 since many typos were fixed.... An emotional rollercoaster!
Loved it. Raw emotion. Love, hate, betrayal, jealousy all tangled together and uniting the characters in an backdrop of the tumultuous decades in Italy, and especially poignant in the south where all the primal senses are heightened to the ultimate extreme of good and evil.

Beautifully written, real, raw
The entire series us just magnificent. There is an unexpected turn every once in a while that sends the whole story in another direction, but it is all so very coherent, loyal to the characters. The way Napoli and its culture stands out and is a protagonist is beautifully done. What a fantastic writer and what an amazing, heartfelt story of a lifetime of such intriguing and deep characters.

Complex story, very Italian
A story full of surprises about the two friends Elena and Lila, their lifelong conflict prone friendship, their children , lovers and husbands, several generations of relatives and friends who populate the lives of these two friends, Napoli, men, mafiosi, helpfulness, death, 60 years of life filling this book. It is beautifully narrated by Anna Bonaiuto!
