Publisher's summary

New York Times best seller

'Tis the season for romance, second chances, and Christmas cheer with this new novel from Debbie Macomber.

Carrie Slayton, a big-city society-page columnist, longs to write more serious news stories. So her editor hands her a challenge: She can cover any topic she wants, but only if she first scores the paper an interview with Finn Dalton, the notoriously reclusive author.

Living in the remote Alaskan wilderness, Finn has written a mega-best-selling memoir about surviving in the wild. But he stubbornly declines to speak to anyone in the press, and no one even knows exactly where he lives.

Digging deep into Finn's past, Carrie develops a theory on his whereabouts. It is the holidays, but her career is at stake, so she forsakes her family celebrations and flies out to snowy Alaska. When she finally finds Finn, she discovers a man both more charismatic and more stubborn than she even expected. And soon she is torn between pursuing the story of a lifetime and following her heart.

Filled with all the comforts and joys of Christmastime, Starry Night is a delightful novel of finding happiness in the most surprising places.

Praise for Starry Night:

“Contemporary romance queen Macomber (Rose Harbor in Bloom) hits the sweet spot with this tender tale of impractical love.... A delicious Christmas miracle well worth waiting for.” (Publishers Weekly, starred review)

“[A] holiday confection...as much a part of the season for some readers as cookies and candy canes.” (Kirkus Reviews)

“A sweet contemporary Christmas romance...[that] the best-selling author’s many fans will enjoy.” (Library Journal)

“Macomber can be depended on for an excellent story.... Readers will remain firmly planted in the beginnings of a beautiful love story between two of the most unlikely characters.” (RT Book Reviews)

“Macomber, the prolific and beloved author of countless bestsellers, has penned a romantic story that will pull at your heartstrings with its holiday theme and emphasis on love and finding that special someone.” (Bookreporter)

“Magical...Macomber has given us another delightful romantic story to cherish. This one will touch your heart just as much as her other Christmas stories. Don’t miss it!” (Fresh Fiction)

Brings me back

I first stumbled on Audio Books through iTunes and my first reads were Debbie Macomber and her Midnight Sons Series. I have dreamed about being in the Alaska Wilderness most of my life, Ms Macomber took me there in the Midnight Sons series. She also hooked me on audio books I discovered Audible and have been an avid listener ever since.
Starry Night brought me back to Hard Luck AK it was a riveting love story with an I can not put this down quality. I will reacquaint myself with Hard Luck since it has been over a year since I lost myself in those pages. I hope that Ms Macomber continues the story with Finn Dalton and add more of the Hard Luck AK characters.
Love my Audible

A Feel Good Story

This a good book....all around feel good story; predictable in places but light easy reading that helped make my commute bearable.
If you need a break from heavier things; reading, work, life - this is your book; restored my faith that there is still a place for simple, good love stories. Ahhhhhh

Terrible Christmas story

Has Starry Night turned you off from other books in this genre?

I love love stories and Christmas stories. This book did not hit the note on either genre for me.

What three words best describe Rebecca Lowman’s performance?

Performance was good

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Starry Night?

I would edit out the parts where the author was in speaking for Finn. His reactions and thoughts never fit nor progressed the story.

Any additional comments?

Picked this for my book club, and changed it almost immediately. I waited til the end of the book for some really great ending, but it lacked from beginning to end. I will try Skipping Christmas instead. Hopefully that is a better, more heartwarming Christmas story.

This Story Is So Predictable

Some times you are just wanting something a little different - well this isn't it. This is not one of Debbie's best books or middle as far as that is concerned. A few more twist and turns would have helped.

What An Enjoyable Experience!!!

A true joy to listen to and one that I will want to listen to again and again!!! While this may not mean much to others, it is very rare for me to endorse romances. The main reason for that is that too many romance novels forego true romance and insert steamy eroticism. This one by a favorite author of mine, with outstanding narration, and with just a nod or two to faithful believers, shines brightly above almost all others. Definitely worth 5 stars in every single category!!!

Mountain Man & the bearded lady

I finished the story in one day, thought it was engaging,a lovely little romance about a career oriented woman & a wild life loving, bull headed man who meet, fall in love only to be told that they are from opposite Worlds & a relationship between them both wont make it;but like they some times say"opposites attract"& can certainly work out if you want it bad enough & these two did.Loved the story, very heart warming & the narrator Rebecca Lowman did a great job with becoming the characters & making you imagine the story. But! for those of us who like a bit more"romance"(sex)in their stories, sorry folks..you wont get that here but if it's a good enough plot, you wont mind not having that too much & I believe this one is it.Would've been 5 stars for me though with a little bit more romance if you know what I mean:)

Another love able romance!

It is amazing that no matter where the setting of the story is,Debbie can
Spin a yarn that grabs you in the 1st chapter and keeps you ingrossed
Until the last word is spoken.
You never want the story to end! You can't wait till the next one comes out!
By the way, we haven't heard from the angel trio in several years. May we expect to hear from them soon? With the male angel that was introduced in their last book.

Sweet, Enjoyable Read

What a sweet story. This book definitely does what the author wanted it to do … it leaves the reader with a smile on their face and a good feeling in their heart. It is a simple, well written story. Although you know what is going to happen since the story is predictable, you just enjoy the ride getting there. Debbie Macomber does know how to write a story and she did a good job with this one. I gave this book 4 stars since I only give 5 stars to the best of books; but I would definitely recommend this for a quick, enjoyable read.

Just an ok listen.

The narrator reads this well but I just was not that interested in the plot or characters. I was hoping for a sweetly romantic quick listen with a hint of comedy but to no avail. This story was not cute, funny, sweet, endearing or even remotely romantic.

Don't waste your time.

This was truly predictable. I kept waiting for something memorable, but that just didn't happen.
