Publisher's summary

Laney Herder and Lady Celeste are called upon by the Lupei of the Mountain Gypsies as their Soras to help free their leader who had been kidnapped, and to stop a war between the realms of Sparo and the Gypsies. Again, Laney is thrown into a world and politics that seem alien to her. She must follow her heart to do the right thing when all seems lost in a foreign land, when she stands against the swords of a nebulous enemy and the magic of one of the most powerful magic users of all time. Can patience and understanding prevail in the face of an impending war that could change the face of the modern world?

I will not yield!

Would you listen to Soras again? Why?

of course i would listen again! I love Ms Hollie's performance once again as she breathes life into the characters. giving them their unique personalities.

Who was your favorite character and why?

hmmm... I have to say... Mother Ranelle. she has this kickass and playful personality that just keeps you engaged and laughing.

What about Hollie Jackson’s performance did you like?

I love that she gives each character their own personality which shines through in her performance. I like the attention to detail when it come to accents. I can see or rather hear that she really worked hard on this

If you could take any character from Soras out to dinner, who would it be and why?

oh my such a forward question... hmm if i were to pick one i would have to say... hmm... i can't seem to pick just one. Bex cause i want to learn more about his inventions and maybe we won't even eat dinner we'll just be tinkering with inventions. Laney cause I feel she would be really good company along with her wife Celeste. there's Sylvia who is also amazing. the children, because they are super cute! Dru because hey we might check out the waitress together. a conversation with Mother Udele would be super interesting too since i have a bunch of questions about the magik they have. Mother Ranelle because she's super fun! gah! so many characters i want to have dinner with! i can't just pick one, that is impossible!

Any additional comments?

please give this a listen to. the performance really is amazing and the story is something different and very enjoyable. 10/10 would listen again

I love this series!

Excellent! Please complete the narration for the other two. I enjoyed going on each adventure. I have no idea how many times I've listened to both Adept and Soras. The Great Mother is amazing!
The lessons learned of taught in this nook: Don't kidnap the matriarch and not expect some kind of retaliation. Arrogance will be your downfall. Don't rely on magic when a dagger will do.

Sora

I can't wait to read the last book in this trilogy. My feeling of just actually being there is just uncanny.

Good Plot, Disappointing Narration

So far, I've really been enjoying this series. I enjoyed the narrator in book 1, also, but this book seemed a bigger problem for her. The character voices were okay, but storyline text was left wanting. Rushed and sing-song like cadence gave me the impression she wanted this over and had better places to be, or perhaps was having difficulty in her life. Not sure if I want to continue on if that uncomfortable narration continues, but I will give benefit of the doubt and enjoy another book in the series.

Perfect escapist series

Enjoying this series for the strong female characters, the PG 13 romance, the egalitarian twist on knights of old adventures and budding friendships between the post impact clans of people.

Epic Storyteller

Erik is my favorite writer. Each book I read of his, I think there’s no way he can top the last but he always does! A must read or listen.
