Publisher's Summary

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Some Kind of Wonderful by Giovanna Fletcher, read by Emily Atack.

When the love of your life says you're not The One, who are you?

Lizzy and Ian have been a couple since the first week of university. Now, after celebrating a decade together, everyone thinks they're about to get engaged.

Instead, a romantic escape to Dubai leaves Lizzy with no ring, no fiancé and no future.

Lizzy is heartbroken - but through the tears, she sees an opportunity. This is her moment to discover what she's been missing while playing Ian's ideal 'better half'. But how much has Ian changed her, and who should she be without him?

Determined to discover who she is at heart, Lizzy sets out to rediscover the girl she was before - and, in the meantime, have a little fun....

Enjoyable light read

This is the first of her books and I enjoyed it. I wonder if she will right about Natalia next.

Book was fab - Dull narrator voice

The book was another triumph but oh my goodness the narrators voice was dull and monotone, making the book seem dull even though the story was great. Such a shame, as it spoilt my enjoyment of it.

Love the book but.....

The narration by Emily Atack is awful! Spoken so quickly and rushed, on audible when you slow is down to -75 sounds slurred and boring. Ruined this book for me. I love the story, ordered it on kindle so I did not have to listen. The writing is great, lovely story however I prefer to listen to audio books wish the author had narrated it herself

No story here. A struggle to get through

A waste of money and time. There is no story to speak of, whenever a slightly interesting twist occurs it will shut down quickly or won't be developped any further. The central character is so superficial, judgmental an shallow, she is not likable at all. On chapter 26 out of 37 she's still on and on again what her boyfriend would have done. She's goal is to go out there, experience things to find hersels then she turns down every chance that could do that. She also flip-flops all the time like she gives a peptalk about how she can't do something then go and do it. There is zero sense of humour but quite a few vulgar situations intended to be funny. The writing is also very simple and repetitive, as if it was a teenager's journal scribbled down after a breakup, peppered with Cosmo snippets on makeup and clothing, finished off with fortune cookie style pearls of wisdom. Cliche after cliche after cliche.
The narrator's voice and reading was very good but even that got ruined after a while by the idiotic non-story. I love chick-lit but it's so below that level.

Felt like not a lot happened

This story started with a bang and filled with promise. But after the main event it felt like not a lot happened. It was easy to listen to but I lost concentration a lot because parts of it were boring.

Such an easy listen.

I was a little apprehensive as this is my first audio book. However it was such an easy listen. A great story and narrated well.
