Love the ending, but narrators need work

I love the book I love the ending I actually scream like a school girl at the ending and just because Adrien deserved to be happy.
But this narrator ruined the books for me.

it's hard not to compare with Chris Patton because he nailed it. I miss my old Jake.

Another hit for the holidays.

Another masterful work by Josh. If I had a concern it is minor. The new narrator is very good with a couple caveats. Lisa’s English accent is a bit forced and the difference between Adrien and Jake needs to be more pronounced but overall excellent narration. Looking forward to the follow up events (no spoiler here). Thanks Josh and my cat Jake thanks you too.

Needs work, women aren't caricatures

The book is good, it certainly ends with all the best yummy feels. It was wonderful to see Jake fully accept himself, and to see Adrien get off his high horse, and for their relationship to be complete.

The audio? Not so much. I think I hadn't bought it because I'd heard so so reviews of it originally, but I just re-listened to the entire original series and jumped on the wagon. While I understand that the original narrator, who is wonderful, couldn't do this book, this narrator should have made an effort to see how the characters were handled.

Also, maybe don't make every female character a caricature. I wanted to stop him ever narrating anything again with the way he read Natalie. That was pure freaking awful. But he did well with Jake and Adrien and, thankfully they were ninety-five percent of the book.

Perfection!

Yes! Brilliant as always Josh Lanyon. A perfect novella to top off the series. The chracters were in tune, the narration was wonderful. I can't say more. It's a short book packed with lots of things happening...so much! Just read it! 3 hours well spent!

Love Jake and Adrien!

Am I disappointed that Chris Patton was unable to do this audiobook? Absolutely! However I think that Kale Williams did a fine job representing Adrien and the other characters. My main disappointment was his Jake. It was not distinctive or gruff enough. This book is an utter delight for Jake and Adrien fans though and the audiobook did not take anything away from my enjoyment of the story!

Story yes - narrator a disappointment.

This last book was a bit disappointing. I liked the story, actually quite a lot, although it is much shorter than the others in the series. The biggest drawback was the narrator being different from all the other books. Chris Patton was phenomenal in the earlier books. His voices for Adrien and Jake were perfect, as were the voices for all the secondary characters. He brought all the characters to life, even the horrible Alonzo. The change to Kale Williams was jarring, and his voices actually changed the personalities, so that they didn’t even seem like the same people. His Adrien was overwrought, Lisa was horrendous (who sounds like that!) as were Guy and Natalie. About halfway through the book most of the other people dropped away, so it got easier to listen to.

Long awaited next series installment worth waiting

Okay, I have to first say that I just love this series and the all of the author's work but this was just so perfect to the characters and to furthering their story and relationship. I couldn't have asked for anything better though I will still ask for at least one more book (but I think I will always be asking for one more no matter who many more are written).

I highly recommend this book but the series must be read in order so start with Fatal Shadows.

This series is one of my favorites. I have had this last book for a while and decided to listen to the whole series in order again. Josh Lanyon is such a wonderful author!

Adrien & Jake move forward AND its Xmas!!

Overall Series 5th Re-Read 2019:
Adrien with an "e", what can I say that I haven't already said? Nothing really because I absolutely adore Adrien and Jake. Yes, there are multiple times I want to whack Jake upside the head but he's learning, albeit slowly sometimes but still learning. There's heartbreak, there's joy, there's murder, and well there's plenty of love(even if it takes Jake a little longer to accept).

All but the final Christmas novella is narrated by Chris Patton and his voice is perfect for these two. I couldn't imagine listening to anyone else bring life to the pair but then when I listened to So This is Christmas, read by Kale Williams, he too is . . . well for the lack of a better word(and not to sound redundant😉) . . . brilliant. Obviously there is a difference between the two narrators but since Adrien and Jake are settled, or as settled as they can be considering Adrien's knack for stumbling into mayhem, which changes people and so the difference in narrators kind of reflects that I thought. So I say spot on to all involved bringing Adrien English and Jake Riordan to life.

Shocking

I can not believe I have not put a review in. #theperfectending. A long road for two of my favorite men. I had hopes for these two. After a journey of ups and downs and heartbreak and heart attacks I was so happy they came together in the end. Josh Lanyon is my favorite m/m author. #tagsgiving #sweepstakes
