Publisher's Summary

Back on Earth with nothing more to show for his long, strange trip through time and space than a ratty towel and a plastic shopping bag, Arthur Dent is ready to believe that the past eight years were all just a figment of his stressed-out imagination. But a gift-wrapped fishbowl with a cryptic inscription, the mysterious disappearance of Earth's dolphins, and the discovery of his battered copy of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy all conspire to give Arthur the sneaking suspicion that something otherworldly is indeed going on.

God only knows what it all means. And fortunately, He left behind a Final Message of explanation. But since it's light-years away from Earth, on a star surrounded by souvenir booths, finding out what it is will mean hitching a ride to the far reaches of space aboard a UFO with a giant robot. But what else is new?

Don't miss more from this exciting series, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

©2006 Douglas Adams; (P)2006 Random House, Inc.

I'm a Cardiac Anesthesiologist with two college aged children. I used 2 check my kid's books for appropriateness & now enjoy those books 2.

    "Hitchhiker is just plain fun"

Hitchhiker is just plain fun. I loved the series when i was young. I read it in college, and again in Med school, and again when i started reading for pleasure again, and now I am going to listen to them all.
I cannot wait. I just wish Douglas was alive for more, but I am about to read Coffer's installment (or try) for a 6th book in the series.

"Missing Adams' classic narration, but still great."

I grew up with the audiocassettes of the entire Hitchhiker's series, and loved Doug Adams narration. The story on this one is still one of my favorites of the series, but i do kind of miss the voice delivering the lines that i somehow still know by heart.

One of the weaker stories in the series, I still enjoyed it but found it to be without naritive direction.

    "Absurdly Perfect, as usual"

Took a little longer to get to the good stuff but worth the wait. I love that things that seemed trivial in pervious books always seem to come back around.

Douglas Adams man.....may you rest in paradise in whatever universe your consciousness may have left to. There will never be another one like you. This is the perfect ending to the most perfect book series.

    "insightful"

I feel as though this book was delightfully dreary. Fantastically dull. And wonderfully irritating.
    Goodbye.
    loved it.
    hated it.
    loathed it.
finally found 20 words in which to say about it.
    Mostly harmless.

Martin Freeman is a wonderful story teller with a wonderful range of voices. Thoroughly recommend this to everyone. Full of very funny interludes.
