Publisher's summary

Chloe needs a holiday. She's sick of making wedding dresses, her partner, Philip, has troubles at work, and the whole family wants a break. Her wealthy friend Gerard has offered the loan of his luxury villa in Spain - perfect.

Hugh is not a happy man. His wife, Amanda, seems more interested in her new kitchen than in him, and he works so hard to pay for it, he barely has time for his children. Maybe he'll have a chance to bond with them on holiday. His old friend Gerard has lent them a luxury villa in Spain - perfect.

Both families arrive at the villa and get a shock - Gerard has double-booked. An uneasy week of sharing begins, and tensions soon mount in the soaring heat. But there's a secret history between the families - and as tempers fray, an old passion begins to resurface....

Following the incredible success of the New York Times best seller The Gatecrasher, Sleeping Arrangements is sure to cement Wickham as one of the most popular names in women's fiction today.

I enjoyed it

Not one of my favorite books from this author, but I still enjoyed it.

okayish... a bit dull

The British novels I love are packed with dry humor, sharp observations of life, witty asides. This one is not. It's just a simple little romantic plot whose wryest lines appear in the first few pages, so you can actually listen to them for free and save yourself the download. Still, I give it 3 stars because it did pass some otherwise boring time fairly enjoyably while I did my chores.

Just OK

Any additional comments?

I saw that this author wrote the Shopaholic series, so I was hoping for something a little more light-hearted and funny.

The word I would use to describe the tone of this book is

I really enjoy sophie Kinsella and Madeline Wickhan 's writing style is very much like her.

Not exactly the ending I would've

Let's just say it was typical. The ending being a bit of a downer on the note of 'dinner' - I liked it up until the end so worth a listen. Everyone may not feel the same.

Okay Story that Reads Like a Play

This book read more like a play than a novel. While there were a few times the prose was beautiful enough for me to rewind a sentence, it was very dialogue-heavy and the scenes took place in a small number of settings.. Also, much like a play, the character development seemed a bit deliberate, as if you simply must see the character change via dialogue in 2 hours.

It wasn't fun or funny like the Sophie Kinsella books I've read, but it was an okay way to pass the time.

An ok read!

I love Sophie Kinsella/Madeleine Wickhams books, however this was not her best. It was a nice story and the characters were good however the story line didn't really build up. The narrators accents were distracting too. Overall an ok read but not the best of her collection.

below average for wickham/kinsella

Madeline Wickham had clearly not hit her stride when she wrote this one. She does have a quirky imagination which might have saved the book were it not for the disappointing narration (too loud at times, and too sing songy for my taste). I'd skip this one. Wedding Girl is a better choice for this author.
