Publisher's summary

Narrated by Stephen King, Matthew Broderick, Michael C. Hall, Paul Giamatti, Will Patton, Norbert Leo Butz, Lois Smith, Dylan Baker, Kyle Beltran, Dana Ivey, Robert Petkoff, David Morse, and Frances Sternhagen.

The master at his scarifying best! From heart-pounding terror to the eeriest of whimsy - tales from the outer limits of one of the greatest imaginations of our time!

In "The Mist", a supermarket becomes the last bastion of humanity as a peril beyond dimension invades the earth.

Touch "The Man Who Would Not Shake Hands", and say your prayers.

There are some things in attics that are better left alone - things like "The Monkey".

The most sublime woman driver on earth offers a man "Mrs. Todd's Shortcut" to paradise.

A boy's sanity is pushed to the edge when he's left alone with the odious corpse of "Gramma".

If you were stunned by Gremlins, the Fornits of "The Ballad of the Flexible Bullet" will knock your socks off.

Trucks that punish and beautiful teen demons who seduce a young man to massacre; curses whose malevolence grows through the years; obscene presences and angels of grace - here, indeed, is a night-blooming bouquet of chills and thrills.

Featured Article: The Shining—Book vs. Movie

Set in the claustrophobia-inducing snow-covered peaks of an isolated hotel in the middle of the Rockies, The Shining is a classic work of psychological horror that’s just about as chilling as it gets. But it’s so, so much more than your classic story of spirits and a man’s descent into madness—it’s also a tender yet deeply painful meditation on addiction, family, abuse, and redemption. Stanley Kubrick rejected Stephen King's initial treatment of the screenplay, and the author was largely dissatisfied with his novel’s jump to the big screen. So what exactly are the differences between The Shining movie and the novel?

alright.

skeleton key is a collection of short stories, and I think one or two novellas. some of the stories were really good, others ok, and some downright boring. if you like Stephen king as I do it's worth the read. if not, this book possibly isn't for you. Michael c. hall and will Patton were the most notable narrators.

Great opportunity

It was really great to listen to so many pieces of King’s-work. Kudos to Patton, Giamatti and Norbert Leo Butz for their great narration.

An average collection, but there are gems.

The Mist was excellent, of course. So was the story about the Jaunt. There were a couple stories where the narrator killed the vibe and a couple that didn't seem to fit.

Still, not a bad deal at all.

Incredible value

This collection of has some incredible short stories from Stephen King. Many of the stories in this book rank among the best short stories I’ve ever read. I’ve seen some reviewers complain that they don’t like some of the stories. With 22 stories that’s to be expected. But it’s hard to imagine horror fans won’t find several favorites among this collection. My favorites include the Jaunt, The Mist, the Raft, and the Reach. I’d say those four stories alone are more than worth the purchase and there are 18 more. The narration ranges from ok to exceptional.
