Publisher's summary

The new novel in the beloved New York Times best-selling Curtis Black series.

After her very public divorce from Dillon, Raven Black is recovering nicely. Dillon has done everything he can to discredit her, but Raven has learned from her mistakes and him. In fact she's intent on using every bit of Dillon's revenge and betrayal as she prepares to take what is hers - and more. Her ambitions have never been so great, and Raven always knows how to get what she wants. She also won't allow anything or anyone to get in her way.

She has become her ex-husband in more ways than one and is slowly leading those connected to her down a terrible path of destruction. But playing with the lives of innocent people has dire consequences - the kind that Raven won't see coming. Raven, of all people, should know that what happens in the dark will eventually come to light...and that there's only so far you can run before your past catches up to you.

Critic reviews

"Roby's latest sizzles with scandal. A deliciously decadent beach read of temptation and the wages of sin." ( Kirkus Reviews)
"Satisfying and sinful...well-written, fast-paced." ( RT Book Reviews)

Same story different characters

Recycled storylines with different characters. Highly disappointed the entirety of this book was about Rachel, Dillon's ex wife. Highly disappointed .

the truth how I feel about this book

I can honestly say I read all 15 of her books and love them but this one kind of seem like someone probably s her readers rushed her to make it to me it was too short also my personal opinion did not really want to hear much about writing or Porsche I want to hear more about the actual black family like what's going on with Matthew and Cortina... but I also can say I will be on standby for her next book

Great book

as always, Kimberla has not disappointed in the story and the reading. My only sorrow is, the question it creates. How many preachers call themselves?

Because I started the series

At this point the only reason I’m still listening to the series is because I like to finish what I start. This book was ok but certainly not something I would recommend.

Good book, whole review is a spoiler alert

The performance of the book was great. I did not want Porsha to go back to Dylan because I still didn't trust him, he was supposed to be the good one in the Black family, but when he walked in on Rachel with the Feds my bones was jumping up and down. I felt Porsha was a little too judgmental of Dylan at the end claiming he was the same old Dylan when she was still the same old Porsha. She wanted to do right but she kept going back to her old ways as well, which any Christian knows it's a process. I just didn't think she should have judged him for the way he helped her out.

Okay!!

Out of all the series this is my least favorite… the story dragged and I couldn’t stay entertained… I do like that Raven, Dillion and Porsha characters were developed and their storyline continued from the last book…
