Publisher's summary

The thrilling new Virgil Flowers novel from the #1 New York Times best-selling author.

The superstore chain PyeMart has its sights set on a Minnesota river town, but two very angry groups want to stop it: local merchants, fearing for their businesses, and environmentalists, predicting ecological disaster. The protests don't seem to be slowing the project, though, until someone decides to take matters into his own hands.

The first bomb goes off on the top floor of PyeMart's headquarters. The second one explodes at the construction site itself. The blasts are meant to inflict maximum damage-and they do. Who's behind the bombs, and how far will they go? It's Virgil Flowers's job to find out... before more people get killed.

Critic reviews

“[Sandford]’s a thorough professional who knows exactly what he’s doing. Whether you’re new to Sandford or not, whether you’ve ever read a Virgil Flowers novel or not, once you start Shock Wave, you’ll read it straight through, quickly, compulsively, happy the whole time to be in such good hands.” (The Washington Post)

“Wry humor, a fully realized lead, and tense atmospherics...Sandford effortlessly conjures up the rhythms and personalities of a small town in one of his best outings to date.” (Publishers Weekly)

“If Shock Wave is any indication, Flowers has a better than even chance of equaling if not surpassing Davenport in the hearts and minds of Sandford’s legion of readers.” (Bookreporter)

Virgil is doing it again......

That F****** Flowers is back on the job. His laid-back detective skills are keeping us on edge as the plot unfolds with several twists & turns until we finally nab the killer. His love life goes cold in this novel, so maybe Virgil is learning not to jump in bed with every pretty face he meets. He is one of my favorite Sandford characters. Keep him coming!

I've read all Sandford stuff

This is standard Sandford.- I love that the narrator kept switching back and forth between saying "pie-mart"? and "Wal-mart"-

Shock Wave

Another great Sandford novel. Enticing action that flows from chapter. Flowers is second only to Davenport.

Another good novel by Sandford

Another good novel by Sandford, which is to say, above average compared to most novels out there. I enjoyed it. If you enjoyed past Virgil Flowers novels, you'll enjoy this one too.

Another great Flowers novel!

Aside from Lucas Davenport, Virgil Flowers is my favorite character! I hope his run of books lasts at least as long as the Prey novels!!

Sandford remains the best

John Sandford remains my favorite author, and this book continues his tradition. With “That F’ing Flowers” as the protagonist this book is difficult to put down, and one has to love Sandford way with a phrase such as when Flowers is musing about if admiring a woman’s ass is cheating he says, “I know what Jimmy
Carter would say…aw F### him!”

This is one of those books that you just don’t want to end, can hardly wait for Sanford’s next.
